I have worked for Amazon for two years, so I think I can speak about this a little. Racially, most of the lower tier jobs (people who work with packages) are Black or Southeastern Asian. At my workplace there were more Southeastern Asians than Blacks. Most of the managers were White. I would usually slack off aka go to the bathroom for a couple of hours and they would do nothing. Not to mention when there were no packages to pack I would just go on my phone. They are also very lenient with missing work. I missed more than 3 days of work and wasn't terminated because I gave a bullshit response to HR. People there are nice, because we all know we suffer. New people were trained every week in that place, worker retention is low these days. Most see the first paycheck and realize it's not worth it to work 10 hour shifts and come home and relax for only 4 hours. The reason Amazon was hailed as a good place to work was because of them paying $15 when most places still payed $9 or something along those lines. My brother works at a warehouse that pays more than an Amazon starting wage and has a gym, yoga classes, and basketball court for free. They lost because they couldn't keep up, plain and simple.
