Now that the imbeciles have left, can we have a serious discussion about HOOD, they are valued less than the cash they hold which makes them extremely undervalued. The counter argument is they are losing money each quarter but they are still the main exposure for normies when it comes to investing in stocks and crypto. The market rebound in the future and HOOD will recover. Also the low valuation makes HOOD a promising acquisition from the big banks or even FTX since the founder bought a stake in them.

FTX is a whorehouse of scams and cons. I imagine they have more pressing matters to hide their money laundering and counterfeiting.
As for "big banks", they can just buy the shitpile for pennies on the dollar when it goes OTC. HOOD is structurally a shit business. Always has been.

Oil is trading in the same range it'll trade in for the next 4.5 months until midterm elections happen and the SPR drain is plugged.
Oil stocks sold off because the whole market is selling off and people think there'll be a recession (protip: it's already here).
Oil stocks will rebound because they all trade at EV/FCFs near 3 and thus can perpetually rise at a rate of 33% per year infinitely simply off buybacks. They're pushing buybacks because shares are cheap, and shares are cheap because of fear of a crash. However that crash in oil prices will not happen because, again, they're focused on buybacks.
It's a bullish feedback loop that will continue until the Fed or congress can create a more stimulatory environment for oil producers, and stop pretending that the oil industry is gonna disappear in 5 years.

One last thing - people think oil prices are high today. If you adjust for inflation they haven't even broken past 2014 levels. The economy was fine in 2014, right? It'll be fine again with todays prices too.. once all the zombie/ponzi shit wasting economic productivity withers and dies.

In summary, invest in oil now.

You're confusing monetary policy and physical constraints. Even Jerome admits he can't print more oil, and also that stopping the printer won't really affect prices.
Maybe you can catch a few panic dumps with quick short trades, but the price will stay rangebound until midterms and then either the economy will be imploding (despite oil prices holding at around current levels) or oil prices will be mooning.

Either way, oil stocks will either be higher by then, or at a minimum they'll be fundamentally cheaper and with accelerating buybacks as a percentage of their floats. There's literally no downside scenario as an oil E&P investor at today's prices.

This is an article from one of the big three credit rating agencies, the other two being Moody's and S&P, stating, yesterday, that the profits of 7 of Morocco's largest banks have returned to pre-pandemic levels because of LICs (loan investment charges).
>An impairment charge is a process used by businesses to write off worthless goodwill. These are assets whose value drops or is lost completely, rendering them completely worthless.
Here's an example of an impairment charge: https://hbr.org/2009/11/is-it-fair-to-blame-fair-value-accounting-for-the-financial-crisis:
>In an example outside the banking field, >Cimarex Energy declared a loss for the first >quarter of 2009, despite an operating profit, >owing to a noncash impairment charge of >more than $500 million (net of taxes) against >its oil and gas properties.

It's not priced in, we're just coping at this point. The rate hikes have a lagging effect, QT just started so it's only beginning.
Fastest rate hikes in 40 years, AND highest levels of debt in history AND they plan on double rates by the end of the year. Oh and 10% of companies have no debt at all but the rest of them are all stressed. So everyone has misallocated capital or forgiveness needs to happen at some level. But you don't want to be the one begging for it.
Even if they were to reverse course again and slow the rate of tightening, the volatility and panic is just going to kill. And stocks still have plenty of room to fall at these P/S levels.

all the floating cash doesn't matter since it appears it won't be used until its obvious the bottom has flattened out after another 30-50% of stock drops.

An indian colleague told me it's actually decent. Even the poor can afford to have a maid that does everything, even cooks for you, every day.
Just don't go to major cities, but also don't go to rural areas, and you can live like an actual king. The only major problem is hygiene. Corruption actually works in your favor: get caught killing a cow? Just pay the cops $100 to fuck off.

> stop fucking coping oil topped.
Oil was literally green today. Do you even understand the meaning of the word "cope"?

Demand is inelastic for oil. Even in recessions, it doesn't tend to decline. It merely stops growing. As liquidity drains, oil is one of the LAST things that could possibly fall. ANYTHING would be a better short than oil right now.
Supply is fucked too, and honestly it's more likely it gets even more fucked going forward due to this same liquidity stress that you somehow think is bearish on oil prices. We already know supply gets fucked by 1mm bpd once SPR release is paused in a few months.

Oil will be a good short if stock prices rise 3-4x from here. Until then, no. Oil stocks are the new tobacco. They'll have insane returns for the next decade and be hated and shit on by morons like you the entire way. This has already been the truth for over a year, so I suppose 9 more years to go..

Look for cheap EV/sales, quality management, significant buybacks or dividends, preferably low debt although some would argue that high debt = leverage to better returns in this bullish environment. If there's debt make sure to estimate metrics on EV ratios rather than market cap.
With global production to stay in shortage for years to come, a good sales ratio is worth more than having the cheapest production costs or best margin per barrel produced.

I should probably make a list of my preferences since people keep asking. For now I'll just say start with VET. It's more of an EU natural gas play, but it's all essentially the same energy shortage factor due to a decade of misguided "clean energy transition" policies.

I'm getting into trading and I need some quick advice:
I want to start off with broad exposure to the stock market with minimal micromanaging, so I'm looking into ETFs. Ideally I want to start off with just one ETF. (I want to start of simple and build up from there as I get comfortable).
Alot of educational resources reccomend VOO or SPY. But I don't really like them, as they are too tech-heavy, and really lack some other sectors.
I understand that holdings of these ETFs represent what the current market looks like, but I guess I want a product with more diversification than the market itself.
I also realize I can achieve the above by creating a portfolio of sector-specific ETFs, but I'd like to start off with a single investment, if possible.
Anyone know of any high-volume ETFs that fit what I'm looking for?
