Robinhood is a commission free stock trading app on iOS/Android

--Robinhood FAQs --
- VISIT THE WEBSITE FIRST DAMMIT!! - www.robinhood.com

> How is it free?
Robinhood earns revenue by collecting interest on the cash and securities in Robinhood accounts, much like a bank collects interest on cash deposits and by collecting fees from robinhood gold.

> It's been X days, why isn't my account verified yet?
Not being approved in 3 days seems to be the new norm. Nevertheless, call/email their support if you've been waiting more than that.

> When is it coming to my country?
The only "plans" are on an Australian and Chinese beta. Neither of which has gained much traction.

> I hit sell when the stock was X.XX, but it actually sold at a lower price, why?
Robinhood graphs are *** and only show you an average, not true real-time prices. To get Bid/Ask prices and important things like candlestick graphs, you should use a more robust platform.

> Where can I get better charting or bid/ask?
Real brokers, like TDAmeritrade's thinkorswim. Otherwise you should be using tradingview.com, stockcharts.com, finviz.com, or a non-pile-of-*** for your graphing in addition to Robinhood.

Good morning /rgt/. Managed to pick up some Future Farm Tech stock at a nice discount right around support level (0.45) just now. I've been watching Inmed Pharmaceuticals the past couple days as it is overbought and, i think, headed for correction. Up 18% (1.07) last i checked. Thinking it should dip to low 80's/high 70's this week. Another pharma startup, Supreme Pharma (FIRE) is flat coming off a brief high last week. Watching that one very closely to see wtf it's going to do. If it dips significantly i am throwing 20% of my portfolio at it.

Just eyeball the monthly and weekly charts. Look for the resistance level (peak the stock has difficulty breaking above) and support level (general price it settles to after dropping). When price is near or at or below support, double check RSI to confirm the number is low, preferably under 30, and if it is then you enter right there.

Support, resistance, and trend over a couple weeks or a month+, whether trending up, down, or flat, are the main things you should be watching out for.

Weed stocks, at least as far as the Canadian ones i deal with ate concerned, are largely undervalued relative to the market potential. Politicians here have been fuding the sector, way underestimating the sales figures. I've heard dumb quotes like "everyone who wants to use marijuana already does", and estimating the legal market to be about the same as the current black market in terms of revenue. It's absurd to think black market estimates are anything close to the potential when it's legal and you can buy it over the counter from any number of shops while out doing errands, not to mention online with a credit card.

There was some fud from a Conservative senator suggesting he and the other conservatives would attempt to delay legalization. Unfortunately for them, they don't have enough people. Trudeau has space to appoint 11 additional senators sympathetic to the cause at any time. Yeah, turns out the Canadian electorate likes their ganja. Trudeau ran for office partly on a promise he would legalize, which was considered at least a bit risky at the time. He won easily. Polls before and after that election show majority in favor of legalization. Companies started in on building the sector, money flooded in, politicians who didn't like the smell of weed most certainly liked the smell of money, and so that's the situation as it stands. checkout the vanguard target retirement funds. You pick a year you want to invest in and the fund slowly gets more conservative as you approach that year. the expense ratio is a little high compared to more basic funds (if 0.16% can be considered high, but VOO has a .04% ratio for comparison) but its a very comfy portfolio. if you'd like less risk -- the fund runs 85% stocks right now -- look for a fund with a higher percentage of bonds.

I witnessed the dotcom boom. The similarities are eerie. Normies piling USD into worthless ideas simply for fear of missing out on something they don't understand. There will be many tears when it all evaporates.

Trust me, I have no delusion that the "whales" who got involved earlier this year, and people now buying, give any fucks about public blockchains/decentralization. This lends bitcoin to turning into a bubble, but I believe this is something governments/developing countries will have to start paying attention to.

If bitcoin crashes so do all the stocks I mentioned that are hyped up because of bitcoin. They're all horribly over-valued and that's why bitcoin is a hedge. If bitcoin crashes you'll make more money on the puts than you lose on bitcoin itself.

>> No.4978483

>>4978312
nah. I dont understand bitcoin markets and I dont invest in markets I dont understand. a wise man one said "the market can remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent"

if I was to do anything in bitcoin it would be cash and cary arbitrage on the futures prices but honestly with exchange's track record of getting hacked I'd rather stay out.

MARA is an easy bet because they're going to have to sell a ton of new shares at the start of the year to buy a bitcoin miner. They've gone up like 500% since they made the agreement too so their almost certainly overpaying. If you don't trust the stocks to drop, the put most of it in bitcoin because there's no way their hype is going to survive if bitcoin crashes. Use them to hedge bitcoin rather than bitcoin to hedge them.

The blockchain concept itself is brilliant and will endure in a big way. What is happening right now with bitcoin is pure silliness though.

>> No.4978893

>>4978736
Why it could continue is

1. Since about late July/early September I suspect larger buyers started moving in, and it doesn't seem to be stopping

2. People, particularly my fellow speculators, may becoming more and more Fed-up (hehe geddit? :) ) with the severe lack of volatility in the blue-chip stock market. This thing goes one direction, and that's up, with some pauses/minimal downward breaks. Crypto is beautiful, in this aspect. And with futures now? Well who knows what could happen.

>> No.4979148

>>4978893
nah. The price of bitcoin is driven by emotions of other people and there's no way to predict that. It could go up or down, no one knows. At least with roulette I know the odds and with the S&P500 I get a dividend.

I disagree, but you brought a good point about not trusting exchanges. I doubt you're the only one with that sentiment. Will be interesting to see if futures arbitrage does occur to as great an extent in crypto.

>> No.4979835

>>4979662
I'd guess wall street introduced bitcoin futures for the sole purpose of hedging their arbitrage strategies, to be honest. there's a risk involved but once the profits are high enough its worth it. i suspect lots of people (not me, not /biz/, they're too retarded) will get rich off it it

but for me, its not just losing my money in an exchange collapse I dont trust people dealing in bitcoin at all, they're a bunch of scammers. I wouldnt send any existing exchange my money or personal information
