Chainlink doing the bear market thing again.

If you are a newfag and still don't understand why this board of oldfag autists is so obsessed with Chainlink in particular, this thread's purpose is to answer all questions Chainlink-related.

Big things are coming this year, with tokenomics changing the rules of demand, and ccip changing how it'll be perceived as a more retail facing, bigger value capture product. Team has a massive war chest, will continue hiring while most projects won't survive the next couple of years.

Bull market tourists, who thought they were geniuses when everything was going up but are now depressed and confused, this is your chance. A bear market is when real technical fundamentals, adoption metrics and professional teams matter. When smart money flees into the rare serious projects. Start paying attention.

1) Won't the absolute collapse of the interconnected pyramid schemes that dominated the last 2 years of bullrun affect the near and mid term prospects of crypto in general? Sure, LINK will return to top 10 or even top 5, but will that be more than $10 per token?
2) Isn't CCIP much less relevant during a deep bear, when all L1 are rotting in the trash where they belong? With ETH going down to $600, gas prices falling and every other L1 dying completely, what's the appeal of CCIP?
3) With node income directly proportional to the use of the network, will the complete collapse of the defi scam ecosystem slash staking gains severely?
4) Is the war chest of the team really that big? I am pretty sure the token dumps everyone was crying about were subsidies for the nodes, not Sirgay stacking up big macs for a rainy day.
Disclosure, I'm all in LINK since 2018, just don't expect a new ATH in the next year or two.

Don't you think they already are?

I use an exchange in Canada that shows my CAD value to 8 decimal places, and I can trade within those decimal places.

How do you think these exchanges keep track of the value of fiat currencies that accurately? Something needs to work as an oracle between fiat price and crypto price. The fiat's already been digitized, and this exchange is clearly operating on a blockchain.

Would this exchange's infrastructure be built on a private blockchain or one of the public ones? Do forex exchanges already use some equivalent tech? Am I retarded/have I misunderstood something?

Anon, Chainlink is the blockchain equivalent of WWW/HTTPS. It's the industry standard of how blockchains communicate with one another. If you could partition the WWW into 1 billion tokens, how much do you think one token would be worth? That's a baseline price for Link tokens BEFORE you account for how much wealth it creates by making smart contracts usable.

In other words 1 Link is a suicide stack in 10 years so keep buying more.

The purpose of standardized price oracles is to standardize prices across a chain to prevent arbitrage attacks. There's nothing stopping someone from building their own inhouse oracle with that level of precision. If it's synchronous in value with these price feeds, perhaps you may be onto something here.

They have all time and sales data, and can scale it down to the smallest fractions as necessary. more granularity means better accounting
>Something needs to work as an oracle between fiat price and crypto price.
That is their time and sales which is determined by traders on their platform, (themselves if they are allowed to make the market).
>The fiat's already been digitized, and this exchange is clearly operating on a blockchain.
given the information you've provided, there is no way to know if they're settling trades on a blockchain. any old database can track numbers to 18 decimal places.

I'm actually more qualified to talk about this than most anons.I'm employed with a cyber-techno machinations company, I do a lot of security analyst programming type work. Open source, decentralized, APIs, partnerships, you name it. We'd be one of the first companies in line for something like Chainlink, if the decentralized smart contract space had more value over traditional data exchanges. There's a catch though, an underlying flaw more deeply embedded in the bedrock of LINK than the very code itself. The flaw is with the concept, and it's this: Companies won't actually go through the hassle of trusting their data API's through crypto.

Now I can already hear your keyboards going frantic, but hear me out. /biz/ hates banks, and traditional data providers. But actual companies, businesses, and investors do not. There's an old saying you might have heard of: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!". The idea that any of our bosses would give us the go ahead if we approached them to put our companies valuable data in a smart contract on a cryptocurrency called Chainlink, that they've never heard of, we'd be laughed out at best and fired on the spot at worst. We already have API data buyers and providers we trust.

'But Chainlink is trustless!' I hear you cry, but is that really a good thing? Just listen to the sound of it. Businesses don't want to spend millions of dollars on something that is trustLESS, they want something trustFUL. 'But the reputation system!', doesn't that defeat the whole point of your coin? If companies only trust nodes with high reputation, what's the difference between trusting banks and data providers that already have reputation, but in real life not on a computer screen.

The fact is, LINK is going to share the same fate as ETH will. A lot of 'real world application' hype, with a lot of 'crypto world application' reality. Only, this billion supply coin isn't going to come close to the nearly $2k that Etherum hit. Happy gambling though anons.

1) this is an entirely manipulated economy. Every aspect of it. The greatest lesson you can learn from crypto, with all its scams, pump and dumps, rugpulls ect, is that the classic economy is exactly the same, only more sophisticated in their scams. Defi is getting crushed not because they're useless, but because they're useful. Watch for bailouts or outright acquisitions of protocols like celsius by the jp morgans of the world.
2. What ccip means for link is that a percentage of all crypto traffic will be captured by the network. Its basically a miner tax. A portion of all revenue earned by miners and eth nodes will now be captured by the chainlink network in the form of jobs, and once staking is live this year, that converts to passive income for us.
3. see my answer to 1
4. dev wallet is something like 600 million link. It isn't clear at this point what it will be used for, but most people think it will be used to subsidize high quality nodes and industry adoption by major partners like investment banks. A portion of it will likely be burned in the future.
