Twenty year ebay user reporting. Use to by and sell on there quite a bit. Just happened to pull out of sales right when ebay fees went from expensive to outright rape, the pay system got fucked and the new ui was forced on those of us who refused to switch from the old ui. Then the whole tax fiasco kicked in. I'll never go back to selling on their again. I don't buy nearly as much as I used to either. I hate the ebay company so much its unreal. Not only do they rape sellers they have made buying on the site unbearable. The search system is retarded, the ads are unbearable and overall experience is just awful. I only buy from ebay when I absolutely have to because the item is only available there. I hate having to sift through shit and force the search to give me the results I want. There is a lot of tricky shit ebay tries to pull hiding items sellers want and showing them overpriced junk no one wants. My advice to anyone who still sells there is to gtfo and find somewhere else to sell. That's where myself and other buyers are, anywhere but ebay. I don't have any recs as to where else to sell though. I don't mess with selling online any more. All the sites are shitty, most buyers are shitty and shipping kills the profits too much these days.

Ebay is a boomer site, people are using Amazon FBA to arbitrage goods to sell to normie goys

>> No.49648691

>>49648434
Amazon FBA is way worse than eBay. Things sell faster, yes. But their return policy is niggerish. They accept returns for any reason. And then the item often becomes unsellable and the 3rd party merchant (you) have the eat the loss. All because some nigger customer bought something he didn't really want.

>> No.49648828

>>49638815
I hear you, but depends. I can eat the 15% fee on stuff I got cheap.

>> No.49648860

Fuck Amazon they take 40-60% of the pie, and they lose inventory far too often.
Zero support, Amazon refers it's sellers to a forum full of other confused seller, with a few Amazon shills in the mix to troll the confused vendors into submission.
If you are able to get ahold of support, good luck, they're in India probably working for Amazon support while also working at a scam call center.

Amazon lost $5k+ in merch in just 2wks time, and getting support to reconcile the lost goods.

People who don't sell on FBA think "Shipping is FREE w/Prime" but no, shipping is included and calculated into the fee to the seller, so the shipping fees are already included in the list price.

Oh did I mention when you use Amazon you are literally giving your money to a Jew?

>> No.49648963

>>49648860
Amazon lost $1600 of inventory I sent in last month. Still waiting for my reconciliation case to be addressed. Fuck Amazon. As soon as what I have on there sells, it is only eBay for me from now on.

I have a real business and a side business book store to help me with my own habit. But really to be too awfully profitable it has to be a side deal where letting them trickle out is fine and dandy.

This.
I run a bookstore, don't ship because I have a better pick and pack operation going that is my real business.
I shop A LOT for books though used on Abe and otherwise, marketing, photo and write up are worth 30% extra to me. And that's how it is for a lot of people.
Price to make a good sale. Not to just be under someone else for the sake of it.

I learned that in my real business. People are VERY price flexible if you sell them right.

Ebay got a lot better in the last 2 years. I honestly don't know what you're talking about.
They no longer automatically side with the buyer on every issue, they keep better and more accessible records, breaking away from PayPal made everything go through one party (eBay) which makes things simpler.
The fees have pretty much stayed the same.
Ebay tells you ways to improve yourself in search results
>offer free shipping
Just add the shipping cost to your price and offer free shipping, and you just improved your results in their algorithm.
>offer 1 day shipping
Just ship everything the next day, and you just improved your place in the algorithm.

if that isn't enough then pay the 1% minimum to promote your listing.
