When covid happened there was a big crash, I bought a bunch of bank stocks and good companies and made around 40% gains on average just waiting for the covid FUD to end, and then they went back to almost pre-covid levels. It was the easiest money I ever made.

Lets say this market downturn lasts 2 month, or 2 years, what are some companies too look out for? In my opinion they should be low risk, meaning they MAKE money NOW, not future gains, not only off of selling stock, not off of speculative bullshit. I would focus on ETFs, mostly DIVO, JEPI, and SCHD. Basically ETFs (and stocks) that have robust fundamentals. Don't wheel meme stocks just because they have high IV.

If your account gets bigger, start wheeling individual value stocks. Stocks with ev/ebitda >11 and ROIC <15% are good filters (see the "magic formula"). A quick ratio of >1 and a debt/equity <1, are also good filters as well.

Shorting VIX futures is commonly what is meant by "shorting VIX".
