Freelance artist here.
I have started learning how to draw about 4-5 years ago and never stopped since then.
I have sworn to draw one sketch everyday for the sake of consistency.

I have finally made something of myself, a mentally ill bloke like me actually became a useful member of society by learning a skill and contributing to the economy.
Worked with companies for illustrations, worked with random strangers for more NSFW stuffs. Finally able to start paying my bills on my own, without government help.

And now, it's over. I have to start all over again.
All these precious years of my youth wasted because of a fucking AI called "DALL-E" about to take my job.
I am not the angry type, but the last few weeks I really wanted to break everything inside of my appartment.
This is so fucking unfair, I was told that artist jobs are the among the last jobs that will be automated.

Anyway, I don't know if I am going to kill myself over this, but whatever. No one cares. Just wanted to vent about this.

you are a brainlet who doesnt understand how the art market works

nobody hires artists to make generic pictures based off 5 word descriptions, they just go on adobe stock and buy a picture for 20 cents. you only hire artists to make EXTREMELY SPECIFIC things, and 99% of people have never and will never pay an artist to draw something.

the pics you are looking at are cherrypicked. while the ai can make good pics sometimes of things that already exist and have tons of pictures of them, they cannot make pics of some persons fursona sucking dick, and that's where the only money left for artists is

That's just trying to get something in one step. (According to their claims) thhe model can be used to add something to an existing background. So in that case, you'd first create the background faces by themselves and use the composite as background for the main character.

relax dude, nobody cares an ai can do art.
once the novelty wears off it will be seen as cheap and tacky and if anything the hours involved in human made art and the years of practice will become more appreciated. replacing humans in art is like replacing football players with robots, cool at first but ultimately meaningless so never a real replacement. advertisers will put the artists name on the ad so that people know a real human did it, though people will get better at telling on their own, and the ai is years away, maybe even 10-20 years away from being truly indistinguishable from human art. you might find yourself using ai tools to prototype ideas and as a base to start from or you might get clients sending you ai images as examples of the sort of thing they're after.

this is never going to happen. replacing an actual programmer with AI would require a full general AI. and youd still need someone to understand the code at the end of the day because one wrong line = strike out

with that said braindead stuff like GUI programming can be automated by AI, but it pretty much already has been by libraries so its rather irrelevant

i have a masters degree in statistics. programming can't be automated without general AI because it is too interconnected. the stuff that "ai programmers" can do is just 20 line algorithms copy pasted from stackoverflow

there is a MASSIVE difference between art and software engineering because in the latter if you fuck up a single line of code then you break everything. whereas in the DALLE renders theres lots of mistakes but people overlook them

in fact, you can still see this problem with art and writing. AI is very good at making single paragraphs or single pictures, but no AI could ever write a coherent book or comic no matter how shitty. to make a program you need to be 100% coherent throughout with no room for mistakes

The more realistic and more terrifying possibility is that the world hasn't been designed for entertainment purposes like a vidya simulation but it's just a computation created by some hyper intelligent AI that's trying to compute an answer to some insolvable question by simulating entire worlds

Say if a person asked "what's the cure for cancer" so the AI simulated a nearly infinite amount of worlds to find the one where some intelligent creature found the cure for cancer, and one of those worlds is ours.

There's always a bias in the way an AI is programmed. It leads to stereotyped results. It also has to do with the kind of pictures stored in the database. Like how the first 3D movies were considered too plastic looking, but now the kind of rendering is up to the artist.

Congratulations
You have now learned what happens when you assert that your metaphysical value is based on how well and conveniently you can work as a tool of the ambivalent machine called industrial society
I don't blame you, plenty of retards don't think their philosophical orientations in life through like your fellow cuck: >>49499061 who has merely not been replaced yet

Technology will learn how to do everything a human can do, it's only a matter of time; if nature could do it, the evolutionary system known as industrial organized technology can do it too.
It merely exists on a human substrate and is human dependent FOR NOW, but even that is debatable as it pits humans against eachother for its own self preservation.

And yet we can easily see the end of all this:
Either the industrial system will blow itself up (preferably) or it will enslave us to greater and greater degrees than it already has, until it likely obsolesces us completely

The cucks who deny that our value comes from our identity and identity alone, as humans, ironically sell themselves or their children for cheap

This
The middle wagies are about to start seething big time in the next 10-30 years as they figure out that just because they were given higher quality feed it doesn't mean they aren't cattle and won't get slaughtered
They were taught to base their entire selfworth on not being a low level wagie and they are going to be mad
But it won't be a victory for us either because the system evolves through natural selection to protect itself from this instability and will give them even better feed in exchange for putting them in a tighter and even more dependent box

The next 40-100 years will be the turning point to see whether humans as a species have the collective willpower to get a handle on technology at all, or set ourselves on the path to be great-filtered by it
