Back in May 2021, I told her I think there will be a stock market crash followed by a recession. This is a conclusion I reached independently, and that research is what brought me to SuperStonk (y'all speakin' my Changuage). The last couple months clearly has her thinking twice about my hypothesis. When the price fell to $100 this year, she finally decided to buy her first couple shares.

Today, I turned on the stock market episode of "The Problem With Jon Stewart," and then I left the room and started getting ready for work. I wasn't sure whether she would pay attention, or just fuck around on her phone instead.

When I checked in 30 minutes later, **she was** ***dialed in*** **to the program.**

Jon was repeating the same shit I have been trying to tell her for a year, breathing life and legitimacy into it. He made it entertaining and palatable. He kept referencing the "apes" with love and excitement in his voice, the same way I talk about you guys.

In the mod drama of last year that we're not supposed to talk about, one of the most damning allegations was the criticism of the previously-highly-praised modbot that verified new users because it was letting obviously troll retards post but restricting normal people. There were also claims of secret discord groups which would poach new dd writers and get them to sign an nda restricting them from posting more dd and in return they all pooled their knowledge in the groups and used it to the predict the stock and swing on it. This was backed by more than one user.
And then there's the obvious part where at least 2 of the mods were unironic shills planted by the hedgies.

The aftermath was the removal of some mods. The other issues were never addressed by the mods. Oh, and one of the meme lords was promoted to mod as well to distract the userbase.

I think my two close friends are part of this cult. They mostly browse Reddit but one of them I know browses /o/. The bounties are really cheap, but yeah some missions it's unavoidable. I think that one is specifically designed to teach you the system. It seemed way more harsh than GTA but I guess it does give you that Western feel of a posse hunting you down and having a shootout. There's a whole youtube video on this, but I hate the way most of the story and its missions are mostly exposition given while you are riding on a horse somewhere, in other words tons of unskippable cutscenes if you want to replay a mission,
I also personally dislike some of the gameplay mechanics and flow, and that's not even mentioning political bias from the devs

Also the most fun I had was actually after the epilouge, because I ended up on an adventure I made myself, by rescuing a robbed train I found in the desert and riding it from bandit camp to camp, wiping them out. Maybe I'm just biased in favor of player freedom instead of linear experiences following artists' intentions
