linkedin is a boomer goldmine my guy. they fucking love it. like boomer posts. respond to boomer comments. send connection requests with msgs like "I was hoping to connect with you to discuss your experiences in X profession" etc etc. seriously it helped me tremendously in the job market.

>>49427990
This, you can also set your status to job seeking which will signal HR roasties and headhunters they can message you, of which 90% is probably garbage but offers will come to you

If youre new no, once you have a job you constantly get written by FB, GOOG and MSFT HR roasties, especially if youre female or work in IT.

linkedin works well.
the are 2 tricks that get you a job easily through there.
shill yourself by clicking on random gold or 'premium' recruiter profiles. they will see you visited their profile and they will reach out to you with their job.
the second trick is to reply to every message you receive even if it's 'i'm not interested'. by constantly replying the linkedin algo thinks you're 'actively looking' and will be a top result when recruiters search.

>>49424946
It is based, but you want to be looking your very best. I know girls who have lists of people they keep tabs on through LinkedIn incase they become mega successful so they can reach out and be like "omg it's you - we should reconnect!" Never do it bros she's coming for that paycheck

>> No.49429052

>>49428137
I got the exact same experience.

Sometimes pajeets will reach out for a junior position. I find myself too shocked to even reply with a mean comment.

>>49424946
I would advise sharing the link, if you have one, once you are past the initial screen, lest some HR roastie goes and looks you up, deems you ugly, and thus not cool enough for the club. Keep it to higher-ups only. I got rid of mine though, for what it's worth.

>> No.49430502

>>49428137
And once you work for GOOG, FB or MSFT then you get to enjoy tons of "connection requests" from and endless number of poos shilling "training" or "recruiters". I stopped responding to most people as it's just annoying.
If I ever need to look, I'll just flip the "open to work" status and let the offers roll in.

LinkedIn is only good if you know people from other businesses. Think of it as Facebook for business. Make a good resume and sesrch on job boards. It has worked well for me personally over the past few years. Some will post the Salary as well.

Can anyone give an example of a good LinkedIn page? What sort of stuff do I want to add and what should I avoid adding? It can't hurt to make one I guess but as someone with very little experience is it even worth it or do I need two or three past positions?

Comp E here with an emphasis in electrical (was gonna double major but didn't take EMag).
I've gotten a ton of messages from recruiters but it's usually "Hey anon, happy to see your profile! Would you be interested in interviewing for <industrial company> in <tittyfuck arkansas>?" and when I check the salary on glassdoor it's like 75k for a Level II EE. Shit's atrocious. Sometimes it's ~60k which is fucking insulting for an engineering position.

Yup. Exclusively get jobs from LinkedIn. Haven't applied to a company website in ages. It's fucking easy when you get 4 recruiters a day begging to call you and tell you about a role that pays more than your last place and is fully remote. It feels exactly like online dating did back in the day when you are responding to real people and not just cut and paste bots.

You need to build up to it with experience and the right key words in your profile. Also responding to recruiters even if it's a thanks but no thanks will move you higher in their search results. Most of the time they will mention how I'm the first person they reached out to so my profile is working as intended. I know you spergs hate HR roasties but it works to make friends and be polite as they can be a resource in the future.

I'm busy building up my own business so am turning them down but once I get the framework done I can leverage the recruiters cold calling me to get me introductions to the hiring managers to offer my services.

It's not bad as your own personal marketing platform. Employers trust it more than a resume since you have verified connections and employment history on there. Applying for jobs was easier since you can click quick apply with your LinkedIn info + uploaded resume.

LinkedIn is good. There are a lot of jobs posted there and nowhere else. I got a job with great pay and benefits by looking on LinkedIn. Also, if you're an experienced professional, headhunters hit you up in the DMs. It's worth having.
