29 is not meant to be pretty. There are two reasons people live or invest in properties there:
1) you are military or have military family (29 palms base is literally largest in the USA)
2) you want to participate in the relatively thriving and all-year-season tourist economy for the national park 10 minutes away, Joshua Tree national park.


The second reason is why I bought property around 29 (closer to Yucca Valley). People make 2,000-5,000 a night on AirBnb rentals when events Happen, such as local races and events like War of the Hammers, etc, as well as yuppie white people who want their AirBnb when staying in Joshua Tree natl park
