Think about this rationally.

IoT will explode in popularity in coming years. In fact, the next generation of electronic appliances will be smart home devices; from washing machines to shower units.

Whether or not you yourself wish to use these appliances is not applicable, millions of others will be adopting them every year.

If this blockchain is going to play a part in the security of such devices, then it only makes sense that its value will rise.

If this is indeed what you believe, the question is this: will IOTA manage to convince all the manufacturers of these devices to build IOTA hardware into their fucking gadgets, that now will end up more expensive, and energy hungry?

Because IOTA will never work if its core software isn't turned into super specialised (energy) efficient hardware (think of an ALU just to compute fucking hashes). What are the odds, such a thing could possibly happen?

At this point it's not about wether or not the tech gets implemented globablly, but if IOTA is the coin it will use or not.
It's the same dilemma as blockchain and bitcoin have. Early adopter status is a big deal, as is with bitcoin
>tfw there are better blockchain cryptos than btc but nobody uses them for anything

I don't see why they couldn't. If IoT is going to work securely, with devices manufactured by wide array of companies, then surely they will read into the coin with the 4th largest market cap.

The only manufacturers I can see rejecting their proposal are those that wish to develop their own "suites" of IoT devices. The only company I can think of that produces such a wide range of devices is Xiaomi.

Then again, how many people do you know that have such blind brand loyalty? How annoyed will they be that their Samsung or Phillips device isn't compatible with the hypothetical proprietary Xiaomi IoT network?

What are the odds they won't be able to optimize the efficiency of their hashing on these revolutionary devices once they take off? At least you can make profit on the speculation that is bound to arise from even an attempt that's going to fail.
