Honest people do the same work at home that they would do in the office. I would add to that, in my case i can do my job more effectively at home, because i'm not distracted by other's tales. During the day at the office there are countless distractions, from people talking about their personal lives to the boss interrupting us for useless meetings. And there is also the commute to work, my commute is 45m each way, that's 1.5h each day, in a week that's 7.5h, another unpaid work day.. In my opition remote work came to stay, or else companies won't find the workers they need, fuckem.

Haha why hello lead engineer . I work for a software dev studio so I manage right now 5 different projects and a team of 25 engineers already across all of them.
My motto is, "keep the devs devving" so I keep my stand-ups to 15 minutes, planning calls to an hour and merge retros and reviews into 1 meeting. If I'm doing my job correctly and so far I am, the requirements are crystal clear so you don't have to ask questions. I only deal with functional requirements and the gathering aspect of it from the customer so all you need to do is dev. The last job I did was more like what you described and I fucking hated it.
