I could see a metals/commodities-backed currency verified via public blockchain ledger. It cashes out the profits on BTC for USD, which it then uses to buy bonds and other financial instruments to say that their reserves are backed in USD.

It could host gold, but i am not seeing any major sulfides or other heavy elements right off the bat. Cautionary note: I thought I just wasn't seeing right when I ordered this. All the other EC8 coins were very realistically sculpted (as much as one typically sees in Ag). This though really came looking like a sketch made in mud. I'm not impressed.

A couple of liquor/smoke shops around here sell the boxes for cheap, too. Problem with cigar boxes is, the wood's usually built for holding cigars, not dense metal. It's hard to find strong cigar boxes.
The next level is humidors. When bought new, the humidifier sponge holder is often supplied as an add-on so you can place it yourself. Just don't, if you're using it for PM.
Lastly are the custom artisan boxes like pic related. This particular guy cheaped out on the latch though, and it's annoying af. I'll have to swap that out.

I was mainly planning to use them for sets of certain coins but I'll watch out for that, didn't think about how light cigars are. I know wood can tarnish silver, then again I plan to use them on old coins anyways so if anything I can sell them higher as "nice patina" later in life

There are a couple ways to mitigate the tarnishing. One way would be to create an inset box of cardboard and glue/tack a liner of anti-tarnish cloth on that. pic related. Then it's easy to toss the cloth every few years for a new liner. Be sure to line the inside of the top, too.

Oh I nearly forgot, have some pics from todays test hole. Same spot as yesterday but about another meter down. The yellow material is called tertiary channel, ancient river bed now long turned to cement by decaying sulfides in the gravel. Its nearly impossible to bust through with and tools, it may be several meters thick. Tertiary channel in this region means pay dirt should be below this, or below a layer of bright blue clay after this. Time to get the breaker bar out tomorrow!
