I have enemies. They are called the human race.

Every day I wake up, I know that these creatures are competition. Predators. They want what I have, and if I have nothing, they will punish me for that also. If I were lying half dead on the street, they would either profit their doctors and EMTs by calling an ambulance, or profit their police and coroners by stalling in bemusement until I am dead. And thats in 'civilization'. Outside 'civilization', I may have my clothes stolen and be fed to pigs. The cost of a moment of weakness.

The humans. They aren't evil. They will sincerely befriend you, insist on their loyalty and even love you until they find something they value more than you. Then you become an obstacle, a liability, an opportunity or target, expendable and a casualty of their own ambitions. And if you protest, they will utterly convince themselve that it was for the best, fair and beleive every bit of it. They aren't evil, just predators. They have to feed.

The sun rises and it begins. Competion in traffic. Competition in line. Salesmen, pan-handlers, theives, clients looking for a better deal. They take. It's what they do, its how they survive. And then there is the apex predator: the friend. Handshakes always put you in striking distance. You keep them close so you can watch them, because they are watching you.

There is no dream house. There is no dream. It isn't about gaining more and more and some fantasy retirement. I don't need motivation to get more, have more. It isn't motivation, it's survival. They will come in the form of tax agents. Lawyers. Regulators. They will be the cashier that shorts your change. The relative that needs a loan. The friend who always drinks one more of your beers than he buys himself. They take. From the minute they are born until the moment you die, they take.

... You have to keep moving, you have to get ahead and break away. And keep moving, keep advancing. Because if you stop, you begin to lose. Your home gets smaller, your food gets worse, being poor isn't an option. They will take until you have nothing and will demand you thank them for sparing your existence. When they have power, they use it.

Look at the wretches on the street, surviving like feral animals from the weather and elements. They didn't all start that way. Humans wore them down until all that was left is their undead bodies. Finally they stopped, and they will die young or suffering. It was no disease, no injury. Just the company of their own species.

You ask for motivation like it's a choice. It isn't a choice. If you aren't advancing, you are just dying quicker. Time is passing. Age dims your options. You have to keep moving, gaining, growing. You have to go out and get what is yours. You have to defend what you have. You have to survive the predators and competition smiling all around you.

When you wake up, you have to demand success from the day. There is no prize at the end. There is no reward in some fantasy future. There is only today, and you have to take everything you can get to survive.

You have to be willing. You have to be human.
