I think I just got hacked /biz/. Created an ETH wallet on MEW and stored the JSON file locally. Somebody managed to get access to my files and transferred my funds (ETH + LINK) to another address. Lost 1.4k

Has this ever happened to anyone? I can't remember clicking any phishing links

it doesn't fucking matter if it was encrypted or not if the key was ever shown on your screen and it was when you created a mew then it's on your PC for the hacker to take
also you have malware and the hacker is probably looking at this thread right now and laughing at you

This. You have to create that js file on an offline computer and it can never be on an online computer, even if you encrypt it immediately. You will, and did get justed. You have to generate it on an offline computer and sign transactions on that same offline computer.

Get a hardware wallet faggot.

>mfw comfy hardware wallet

That said OP, you should probably run some scans on your computer and shit. Switch off your internet from your main computer in case you have a remote access trojan.

I bet you use Windows and possibly internet explorer.

I bet you have a few virus scanners and trust them. Too bad new malware never get's picked up.

I have a hardware wallet but I also have a computer that's never been online running ubuntu in airplane mode that has the battery taken out so it's never on except when I plug it in with my ether wallet on it brought over from a flash drive with the js file encrypted using true crypt and the whole thing in a gun safe. I store some of my coins on this wallet. How safe am I?

I'm actually using a mac

>>4786891
Will do. At least it's not too much but my ledger is arriving soon and I'll handle this stuff more cautious

>> No.4787043

I keep JSON on a USB stick within an encrypted zip file. Am I gonna get JUSTed?

>> No.4787077

Best thing to do is just get a hardware wallet. If you don't want one, next best thing is to have an air gapped computer with your private key on it and generate transactions on your online computer and then sign them on your offline computer.
