Sign up for coinbase, buy some BTC, ETH, or LTC, preferably a bit of all three.

Then do some research on altcoins, read their white papers, decide if there are any projects you like, sign up for Binance and Bittrex (two exchanges) and then invest a small amount of your BTC/ETH/LTC (no more than 25%) into those altcoins. Look into getting some XMR (Monero) and ETC (ETC) as well.

Don’t try to daytrade, and NEVER margin trade or use leverage. This is how tons of people lose everything.

Best of luck, hope I helped.

How secure is coinbase? I'm always paranoid about giving out my info.

It’s very secure and your funds are insured if Coinbase ever gets hacked/stolen from. This doesn’t cover someone figuring out your password and taking your stuff, but you won’t get completely screwed if Coinbase ever gets breached.

Don't buy anything until you see BTC drop 20% or more. Crypto is teetering on the edge of a diving board attached to the roof of a jenga tower right now. Alts go in to freefall when btc does so just wait for now.

You can go ahead and sign up for an exchange, do verification and all that if you like in preparation.

Any alternative for countries not supported by Coinbase?

It's about as secure as it can be, but if you're spending a lot the IRS has their eye on them, they might come looking to tax your gains

Most people are on /biz/ are conlets.
As in, they think they are great con artists but are actually terrible at conning anyone other than themselves.

Depends on how much you want to pay in fees and what your intentions are. If you want to trade, you'll need to get a Coinbase account and then go their exchange GDAX.
