What's your definition of making it?

10 ETH and 2-3 years will probably get you a townhouse in a small comfy city, and maybe even a mid-range used car.

The beautiful thing about ETH is that Vitalik is planning YEARS ahead. He doesn't care about todays price. He is looking 5 years into the future and is seemingly hell bent on driving into the future using ETH as the vehicle.

Casper is in its final steps so probably late spring 2018. But it wont be full on proof of stake yet. It will be mostly proof of work still because the staking mechanism isnt still fully fleshed out in terms of long term dependence. So what they propose 100:1 ratio, 100 or so blocks will be mined with PoW and the last block will be mined with PoS.

The partial staking mechanism will be included in the next update Constantinople(i think its called)
