The tech is getting used, the coin might never get used for anything but fuel

Banks literally need the coin to get these gains though. Seems like a huge waste of great tech if it never gets used. I think it's less of an issue that banks won't use it, and more of an issue that banks need time to warm up to the idea of cryptocurrency.

I believe Google is backing Ripple! That should be a good enough reason for wanting to use it in the future ....

It's one of the oldest of the top four. It's not a currency at all, it is protocol which uses a token called XRP to transfer currencies. It cannot be mined. Banks, like Santander for one, are adopting it's use. Logistics companies, like UPS, are the same. There are others. Ripple can be used on it's own and XRP just adds to the transaction overhead, but why then is it being adopted? Because the overhead with implementing XRP cuts the transaction cost by 30%. It's also extremely quick. XRP has been openly praised by bankers and respectable financial newspapers, in the 'Financial Times'.

If you want to read into the research on it, it's worth digging around.

Correct. It was the EU Monetary Commission, if my memory serves me, who held the conference. There were four representatives, one of whom was from Ripple.

Kinda of have to be dumb not to hold some XRP.

Not decentralized however, they can literally add/remove features as they see fit, Smart Contacts for instance will be implemented by next year (this is huge). XRP is Crypto for industry basically.
