Agreed. I'm personally happy with my Volvo XC70. More comfortable, more capable on 95% of the road network, sure even the T6 is WAY slower than an Aventador, but where I live they impound your car and take away your license if you are going 50 km/h above the speed limit, so a Lamborghini is kind of pointless.

Nope, for me inspiration consists entirely of a comfortable home, annual vacations to wherever I want and plenty of wine, all day erry day. Make more money? Take more expensive vacations and buy more expensive wine to drink.

you'd have to work a thousand years to become a millionaire. life doesn't afford you opportunities to save much. even if you worked hard for 20 years and saved diligently, almost always, life throws something at you and your money's spent. to make that money you'd have to have some kind of edge or gimmick that'll afford you the necessary means to become a millionaire. You are not a millionaire because you can't even count.

It takes only 19 years to become a millionaire if you save up $1,500 each month and invest at 10%.

I love pictures like this, because I'm aesthetically attracted to luxury, but ultimately it doesn't feel very relevant. It's not that money can't buy happiness, all else being equal I'd definitely be happier if I lived in a better apartment, could afford to travel a lot, and consume whatever I wanted. But I don't see how anyone can be driven by that. It's nice, but it's not motivational, it doesn't make me feel any emotion strong enough to make me want to get off my ass and work harder. A carrot, no matter how tasty, is still just a carrot. And when you consider hedonic adaption, even seemingly permanent luxuries, like a fancy apartment, are comparable to the impermanent carrot.

Hedonic adaptation is a pretty nice phrase, though. Most of us know that feeling when we spend a lot of money on something, like a cool car, a bigger TV or some shit like that, and feel really stoked about it, just gloating in the pure joy of owning something nice. Only to realize a few weeks later that you're used to owning that awesome thing and you just take it for granted. Hedonic adaptation just describes that exact phenomena. I think "hedonic treadmill" is more commonly used, but I like adaptation since it's more literal than metaphorical.

IT contracting???

I was getting paid £450 a day contracting for HSBC. But you do know there is little job security, although I know people in the industry who have contracted in the same place and role for 5+ years, it's doable. The reason you get paid so much is the perceived lack of job security. But make yourself an integral part of the running of the business and for them it's easier to just keep renewing your contract than to get some new guy in.

I actually quit after two years cuz it was soul destroying (and health) for me. I learned very fast that I can't really hack 9-5 office jobs, I literally felt like shit the whole time and it just got worse and worse.

Now I'm a jobless NEET... ;_;

I have a healthy CV/Resume but I can't bring myself to go back in IT contracting, it was so painful.

It is easy enough and only takes 20 years to do, once your 40 you can relax and spend the next 40 years looking after your health and raising the next wave on millionaires, and they can do the same. Crazy to think it could all start with me.

One mistake newly rich people make is ignoring the value loss, especially people who are rich but still have to work to maintain their lifestyle.

Some Sportstars are spending half of their income on some stupid shit. So you have signed a contract and you will get 10 million this year. So the first think they are buying is some big house (1 million), a few cars (sportscar, and a SUV, 400.000), some jewlery (100.000), well you need new furniture, some rims, new clothes, parties...........and the list goes on.

Why not buy a used Lambo? A new car loses so much value after one year.
Why not buy a reasonable flat/house? A big house needs a gardener, pool boy, house keeping.......you'll not do this yourself.

It's fake modesty. They have enough money that even if they spent $1MM on a car it wouldn't make a difference. The reason they buy cheap is so everyone will notice and say "wow, they're so modest!" It's still vanity, just not in the traditional sense. Everyone already knows they're rich so buying a cheaper car (or other items) actually adds to their status by making them appear "down to earth" and "humble", even though on the inside they're just as vain as everyone else.

So I've been living the good life for a while now, as far as neetdom comes. I make $18 an hour sitting on my ass for rudimentary computer knowledge. I literally get paid to play video games and watch netflix at work. Today I made $27 an hour doing it.

But let me tell you: a few days ago, my CEO let me take his Mercedes E63 AMG out for the weekend - and I was disappointed. I thought spending 120k on a car would be like operating a dream - and it was. It drove well, was quick as shit, and comfortable all around the inside.

But it just...wasn't...good enough. I want more. I want cars that aren't just cookie cutter playthings for millionaires with no taste. I don't want red Ferraris, aka baby's first supercar. I don't want fucking uniconic Porsches or Maseratis, aka "I'm rich but I'm too stupid to buy a car that's anything but a badge." And don't get me started on BMWs.

I want to make so much money that I ruin people's lives. I want to make so much money that I can drive up to some idiot and his trophy wife in a Ferrari, rev my engine, and steal his goddamn wife for a night. I want to eat such nice food that people beg me instead to donate the money to a charity - which I'll say no to. I want to rent out Disneyland during their Gay Days to infuriate an entire fucking demographic. I want to hire private detectives to ruin the lives of people who've antagonized me in the past, whether or not they got away with it in the end.

I actually got through my gig through an agency. They take a cut from your pay. My actual salary would've been around £600 per day, but I only saw about £450 after they raped me.

But it was the only way for me to get my foot into the door with top tier clients. Otherwise it's actually quite tough to land a nice job. Market is heavily saturated. Most of the other contractors I knew there where 'freelancers'. They had their own cards and basically work on a 'self employed' bases.

You can only really go out freelancing as a contractor after you have about 5+ solid years of experience working in that industry and role. Then you just throw yourself out there and apply for contract type job roles as they come through.

As a newbie you will have to start somewhere near the bottom. You can't just jump into a contractor position. You'll have to get a 'regular' job and gain experience and build your CV. You have to remember; companies hire contractors to get people in quick who know what they're doing and can hit the ground running, they are not looking for 'trainees' or people looking to build a career at the company. Likewise, they're looking to get people in quick so they are also looking to get rid of you quick if they need to. Thus is the life of the contractor.

It was a hot summer day and I was in my workout room benching 1200 pounds. My abs were flexing and girls within a 10 mile radius were getting wet. Once I was done with my daily 32 hour workout I called one of the bitches I know, Jessica. She is really damn hot and looks like a supermodel. SO I got into my Lamborghini Gallardo and reved it up to 40,000 RPM (this is an Italian import with special engine system). I got onto the freeway near my house and threw it into 8th gear, I hit about 600 mph and I could hear the sonic boom as I broke the sound barrier. As I was flooring it on the freeway like a badass, Jessica called me and said she wanted me to fuck her. So be it.

I came to a full stop from 700 mph in front of her house. These Ferrari’s have top notch brakes, you know. So she gets out of the house and walks up to my Bugatti and starts eyeballing my dick. I could tell she was staring at it because when I looked at her I noticed she was looking at my dick. Booya.

Flash forward 10 minutes later. My 30 inch dick is going inside of her VAGINA, hitting them walls. I’m holding her entire body up with my left pinky as I’m fucking her and she has 30,000 orgasms. She looks me in the eyes and she says “harder.” V-TEC just kicked in, yo. I blow my load so hard she falls off my dick. There had to have been about two pints of cum everywhere. People say I cum like a pornstar, I wouldn’t disagree with them.

I throw her a towel so she can clean herself up then I do a triple backflip into my Maserati and drive home.

All of you in this thread. I have a few specific questions for you.

Are you familiar with Buddhism? Are you aware that amassing material objects doesn't matter? Not from a nihilist point of view, but from a realistic point of view.

Would you be willing to share your amassed fortunes with other people if it meant that everyone could have enough, instead of a select few having a ridiculous amount and others suffering in poverty?

Do you willingly live a life floating in an ocean of greed and gluttony? What are your motivations?

Not sure if you're interested in reading manga but try reading Homunculus, half way through it you will understand why your type of mindset is wrong.

You talk as if greed and gluttony are bad things, you're wrong, they are an undeniable part of human nature. Only humans who have an elevated level of greed can truly reach the realm of freedom, richness, luxury and dreams.

Cutting off that bond will completely destroy your life, greed is what keeps humans alive.

I am a little familiar with Buddhism. Ultimately, objectively nothing matters. Enlightenment doesn't matter. Becoming uuber wealthy doesn't matter. Reality and existence is nothing more than a game or a really big improv play with a loose and changeable script. We are allowed to choose how we play or perform. The game(s) have rules and we are influenced by them.

I want both spiritual attainment and material attainment. Maybe these to will conflict in the future but from my limited understanding they aren't currently conflicting for "me".

Actually the opposite has occurred for me. Learning about proper methods of material attainment has required me to first learn about nonphysical attainment first. ;D

If you believe in reincarnation and all that stuff(not saying yes or no either way) then you should also believe that people are where they need to be, to learn what they need to learn or become what they need to become. I know what poverty is like and people just giving me shit all the time would have been a disservice and stunted my growth.

Poor gonna poor.

>Greed
I don't believe in amassing wealth by taking from others, I believe in offering equal or lucrative exchange.

>Gluttony
Is there a such thing as spiritual gluttony?

I personally think gluttony is about indulgence to the point of losing control. If you are never a slave to the dough does that mean you can have as much as you please?
