2 very different questions, but /biz/ is probably the best place for them:

1) Is the Target 5% card worth getting? Me and my girlfriend shop in Target pretty frequently, and I'm always asked if I want to sign up for the card, but I always decline.

2) I have an extra ~$7,500 in my bank account that I would like to invest. What is a good low risk, low reward investment that isn't a CD?

I don't think the Target card is bad if you hate Walmart enough to shop at target regularly.

2. Just do a few Vanguard fixed index funds, average return, pretty low risk especially if you spread over a few types i.e. foreign bonds, muni bonds, ect.

Also large cap equity funds, a little riskier, still not terribly risky, and more reward.

Responding to myself: I saw Vanguard because they tend to be one of the cheapest, if not the cheapest, of comparable funds, and perform well against comparable indicies. Before I get called a shill.

Fuck this guy, buy Comcast stock since they're allowed to monopolize everything.

More than covers inflation + has a return.

yeah, good idea to put an entire savings in one equity position

Target is like the less...ghetto... version of Walmart. Every time I go to Walmart, it's dirty, unkempt and filled with blacks and smelly indians.

Is this real or troll? I've heard the opposite, and I feel like I've missed the bitcoin train, so I just don't waste my time with it.

I don't want you to list them all, but can you give me an example of one, and I'll investigate from there.

I actually have stock in Verizon and Frontier Communications, I don't want another similar stock

obviously not saying comcast is going down the tubes anytime soon, but if you think one equity position would be well protected against a systemic downturn, you're foolish and i'm glad i have you as a competitor

you literally said to invest the money in comcast, so no, its not a straw.jpg. besides, he's looking for low risk low return which screams fixed income in the first place.

pic related is s&p 500. so over the same time period it looks like if comcast has outperformed the entire market, it's done so by a marginal amount. Like i said, market risk. With positions like comcast you live with the market and die with the market

i think by this time next year it will be at ~60, we keep having quarters like 2Q14. the merger is already priced in
