I've read the news releases and guidance summary from the earnings report. Their only immediate plan is to shave another $20 billion off the company in the next 2-3 years. Trian was hopeful that he would turn shit around but their relationship has soured now and they've greatly lowered their expectations. Until the new CEO does something big that proves he's ready to take the company in a new direction the stock will continue to tank.

I do this frequently, either to generate some extra income on long holds or to rehabilitate a crappy position. If the option stays out of the money, you are golden and pocket the premium. If it goes ITM and you are nearing the strike date, you'll have a choice to make: roll the call and keep the shares, or accept the strike price for your shares and move on.

If the shares tank and you want to unload them, you'll have to buy back the call. The good news is that it will be a lot cheaper than what you sold it for.

Another thing I'd recommend is to make sure you know what your broker is going to charge you if your call gets assigned. Depending on the broker, it could be expensive

I'm getting really close to that 25k thresh hold, and was thinking this would be a good way to just hold a good amount of this accounts capital in something relatively safer so I don't go balls deep and end up with a 10% loss that puts me back below that 25k threshold. I want to hit it and never look back, but that's a great idea to look at if you're going to get called away to just reload more sharers when you're really close to that strike price. What's the worst thing that happens you just end up with more of the stock you wanted and can sell even more calls on it.

What I mean by rolling the call when the shares are ITM is to buy back the call at current market, and immediately write/sell a new one at a higher strike price and also farther out. You will shed as few $ in this process, but you will also probably be in a better net overall position for doing this. No need to buy more shares. Just keep the ones you have.
