Ripple's goal as a company is to take over a big chunk of the market for the 5 trillion dollars that is transmitted across international borders each day. If Ripple captures a significant slice of that market XRP will have to be valued at $10+ simply to be able to provide the required liquidity.

At the moment Ripple has a lot of banks on board with their ledger technology but getting the banks to adopt XRP itself en masse will be a long term project due to the regulatory hurdles. The process has begun and the first banks have begun using XRP but it's still early days yet.

Ripple is the frontrunner for taking over this market and if it captures the majority we can expect to see $20 XRP. If it captures none, or if SWIFT, the current king of international transfers avoids disruption, XRP will be worth nothing. Personally, I think the odds of success are about 50/50 but the payout for success is somewhere between 50 and 100 to 1. For me, that makes XRP an excellent long term bet. The hard thing is to not fuck around with it in the meantime. Drop your cash, walk away, and then check in once every couple of months. Watching daily and weekly swings is a bad idea as this is a long term hold.
