Yes, I ORIGINALLY bought a whole bunch ~20k area, sold it all ~70k, then re-bought in a good amount at ~50k, and have been holding ever since. However, with the "news" of the day, I decided to buy more just now as it's been hovering 40k-45k for awhile.

The best moves I could've possibly made would've been to not have re-bought in until it dropped to ~38k, but obviously that would've been pure amazing luck to know that the previous 50k floor after the boom wasn't actually the floor. So, why not buy in some more and get a little profit in the process of holding, ya feels me?

It really is just weirdly good luck today. Typically after I research a coin and decide to buy, I have to wait 24 hours at the very least before they really take off.

Today, however, I bought MIN at ~3k seconds before it shot to the moon island of 7k, and now I grab AERO at 1.7k and 2 seconds later it's 2.5k.

I mean, I do always research everything prior to purchase, and even though I *know* it's going to go up when I buy it, today I just had perfect luck with the timing of liftoff.

Don't mine bitcoin. I wouldn't really suggest mining anything at all. It's much easier to buy crypto for cash and trade it (especially if you're in it for sweet, sweet profit). Mining is very, very hard to get a return on by comparison.

If you want to get into cryptocurrency, I would suggest first opening account on coinbase (if you're in the US) or a similar site if you're in another country. After confirming your bank account, buy some bitcoin. From there you might be able to get some trading advice here (whether it's good or bad is anyone's guess).

What you need to do in order to *essentially* guarantee success is diversify your investments. Not to the extent where you have all of your BTC spread out over 30+ altcoins, but rather 4, 5, or 6 of them which have:
>Active communities and Devs
>Positive press and future outlook
>People talking about it regularly on Twitter and other social media
>Features that may not be "revolutionary", but are new enough to allow it to stand out from the crowd a bit
>Active trade volume to the extent that an hour or two never passes without at least a few large-ish trades

If you look into everything you buy, read the facts and statements from devs, browse what others are saying about it, and all signs point to a bright future, you buy it and IMMEDIATELY set an exit point. I personally never go above a 10-15% profit point.

For example, you read about 5 altcoins and they all meet the criteria listed above, right? You split your BTC 5 ways and buy them. As soon as you do, you take your entry price, add 10%, and set the sell orders. Have one or two that you think may eventually end up going +1000%? Sell 90% of them at the 10% sell order so whatever you're left holding is pure profit, even if it completely tanks later on, you're still in the black.

Dont go all in on one or two coins and then hold until you see it's gone 10x the buy in rate. Set realistic goals and if you're going to shoot for the moon, set realistic sell orders first so you have a soft landing if your spaceship pulls a LolChallenger after liftoff.

>> No.398195

>>398193
I have faith in LTC. whether it flourishes long term or not depends on the devs. it won't last much longer the way it is, but there's no reason it can't be improved. i started buying ltc for ~40p, didn't sell at £45, not gonna sell until it hits that kinda price again, which I think it will, eventually.

furthermore, so many people think that just because a coin is flatlining, it's over. these coins are open source and lots of money is invested. it's not over 'til the devs give up and the last person stops mining.

>Do you really have this much self control?

Definitely not at first, but you learn to have it over time.

Holding onto a bag once it goes up past the +10% profit point in the hope of selling it at the +500% profit point becomes a pretty ridiculous idea once you've had a few bags dance around the +20% mark before forcing you to sell after dropping to -75% the next morning.

You never have the "oh god why didn't I sell it when I was in the black" feels when you realize that no matter what happens, profit = profit, and any profit at all is better than no profit at all.

The chances of your investments - any and all across the board - giving you a +15% return are always profoundly greater than the chances of them giving you a +500% return. Play the odds in realistic standards and while you may not strike gold right off the bat, you'll essentially eliminate any tangible chance of going broke.

He didnt "lose 90k" thats the amount he qould jave made if he had sold at its peak.

Saying he lost 90k is hindiaght bias. By that logic anyone who was alive to buy apple and.microsoft when it hit the market "lost billions"

If you had btc at .05 cents at what price would you have sold?

Bet it would jave been long long long before it peaked at 1k

That's the right attitude. I really don't understand how can sane people invest the majority of their life savings in a high risk asset they technically don't understand anything about. One look at the coin specs and it was clear that after the popularity boom the price will never stop dropping and never recover. Kinda feel bad for them - I was in a similar situation when I bought in at $250 Bitcoin during April bubble. Had $10k riding on it. But I was hardly depressed because I knew the market cap was still way too low and all I had to do was WAIT AND HOLD. Took a bit longer than I expected, but there it came. Sold half at $900-$1000 and bought back in at $400. My start wasn't too pleasant but it all seems to have worked out. :)

When news comes out, a lot of the times news is over-hyped so it looks a lot like a pump and dump, and takes a while to stabilize to actual value. If ninja released, that is, no over-hype, the coins market value is much better matched to intrinsic value which means better coin stability.

Converting cryptos into money is like converting money into crypto in reverse.
You have your cryptos, sell them for bitcoins, transfert them to coinbase, bitstamp, etc and sell them for money that you can withdraw.

There's no limit on how much you can win or lose.
If you're lucky you can get 10x your initial investment, or lose it all in no time, it's up to you.

And no, it's impossible to simulate crypto trading and it's too different from stocks to train yourself on the stock market.

Begin small, get used to it and you might get it, eventually.

anything from a loss, to a fortune. s'all about the coin. if it fails, so do your efforts. hit another like BTC/LTC/DOGE/BC/DRK/XMR w/e, and you could be legit rich. it was once possible to mine thousands of bitcoins in one day, using a mid-range computer. scary.

I know i'll probably get some hate for this, but i think anyone who is confused about what to mine, should be mining BCN. i've mined a million of those fuckers using a dual-core AMD CPU which cost me like £50. they were 2satoshi when i started, last time i checked they'd doubled in price. they're a cryptonote coin, 2 years old, which has not yet exploded in price, but i believe it will. i leave my old desktop mining them 24/7. CPU mining costs naff all, so why the hell not.
