BTC. Technically you could still be making money if the BTC value is up vs. the USD, but the important thing when investing in any altcoin is whether or not it's outperforming bitcoin. That's what the BTC value shows you. After all, if your altcoin isn't outperforming bitcoin, why the fuck wouldn't you just put that money in bitcoin instead?
