I have regular robinhood which is what you get when you download it. You can make unlimited trades but have to wait 3 days for the money to be deposited back into your account when you sell something so you can use it to buy something (3 day thing is a sec rule too)

Think of it like having day trade tokens. Your account generates a new token every 5 days and you have a max of 3 tokens.

This only applies to day traders with less than 25K. Everyone else is free to dispose of their crashing shares however and as often as they like.

I'm old enough that I've seen many examples of people losing their life savings in the markets because they don't know what they are doing. Good, smart, but naive, people. And, frankly, having the 25K to avoid the day trading rules isn't enough protection for a lot of people who try their hand at day trading.

investopedia for basic overview, investing.com has my favorite charts. start learning terms. learn what RSI is, how bid and ask prices work, and eventually I HIGHLY recommend at least learning the basic function of the Ichimoku Cloud system. Finviz has more data than you'll know what to do with. look at charts, look at how news affects price, learn to read a financial statement and balance sheet. don't buy a stock JUST because it's super cheap. even though a lot of garbage ~.10-20 stocks can run 1000%, they're rare and you HAVE to fully understand the company's situation before playing with them. this isn't gambling, these are real companies that can end up losing you all your money if they're in serious trouble. My recommendation based on the mistakes I made in my first year (I started year 1 with a 50% loss that turned into a 130% return on initial investment) is to make smaller trades than you may want to, give them a little more time than you might think you should, and don't panic if you buy and the price drops a little bit. If you plan to hold say 50 shares of a stock, start by buying half and see what happens. if the price drops a bit, buy a little more, maybe another 5 or 10. Once it starts rising above the price you paid hold off and find a profit target you're comfortable with. There's so much more to this game than most people realize, but I've found learning the process is the most rewarding thing I've ever done in my life.

it's also important to understand market climate and how it related to the stocks you're playing with. if you're in obscure biotech stocks that are $2-3, a broad market downturn may or may not affect you at all. if your portfolio consists of 5 shares of AAPL and 1 share of NVIDA, a crash in the broad market will ABSOLUTELY hurt you temporarily. do NOT put all or even half of your money into one company to start. you WILL get overconfident at some point and you WILL lose money.
