People get to know about exchanges either through advertising (which CM doesn't have to any noticable degree) and recommendations from other people. I can't recommend CM to most people I know IRL because they don't know enough English to do important stuff like investing on an exchange. I do recommend it online a lot, but I can't recommend it to normies who just want some Bitcoin or Eth because they will get better prices at other good exchanges like Kraken, and I typically recommend buying some XMR, which CM doesn't have.

Markets aren't driven by a minority, only controlled. Without normies fomoing into shit no stock or coin would ever go up in value. Same goes for Coinmetro as an exchange, without normies to provide liquidity and attention the whole thing is dead.

you have to realise that as much as people like to believe otherwise, there was only a handful of people who believed assblaster about Link. The token was shat on for months and years on end, the "we are the Link marines" meme was made to mock them like the digimarines. fucking 20 hours, coinmetro also charges 0.15% fee when you withdraw your tokens, for that transaction i paid 15 link as a result. fucking chink scam binance could do this job for just 0.5 link regardless of your stack size.

Two things - It is a fantastic exchange, BUT the second thing (and the reason no one cares rn) is that it just doesn't have a ton of offerings. 16 is not a lot and many are not that popular (now). Link, ETH and BTC are the only things that a currently popular.

If CM were to widen their portfolio, And not show me everything in fn euros on the app, it might be more popular. The roadmap looks good, though.

This is a good point, Kevin has singularly failed to market crypto.
Giving him the benefit of the doubt though, I get the impression that his strategy is to allow other exchanges to spend the money attracting new people into crypto, then to try and 'poach' them with a better exchange. No, this is wrong. The majority of trading volume is driven by a very small number of people, an even more extreme version of the Pareto Distribution. There are whales who trade a greater daily volume than all of Coinmetro's existing customer base. If CM is to drive it's volume, and XCM price in a sustainable, long-term manner, it needs to be attracting those people.
