What's their definition of day trading? Just someone who trades every day?
I don't do buy and hold indefinitely but I don't trade every day either. I buy with a certain profit range in mind, like 50% to 200% and let it be until that's reached.

People shit on it because it's "boring", but value investing is the best approach in crypto as in literally everything. Do your research, decide what the market cap of some project should be a year or five from now, based on fundamentals, and if that estimate is way above their current market cap, throw your money into it and forget about it until you're right.
