This should be relatively easy to answer yet upon researching I've never been able to find the exact information.

Assuming I'm connecting a Trezor or Ledger through Metamask in order to trade on a DEX or deposit on a liquidity pool what are the added security risks?

Basically my question is that if my Metamask account became compromised(worst case scenario my seed phrase is accessed by someone) would that compromise my Ledger/Trezor holdings in any way if the device was connected to a compromised Metamask account? I'm assuming no since you have to input the pin to do everything? Is there anyway someone could get the seed phrase somehow of the hardware device? I have everything only written on paper never electronically. Thanks in advance.

Help me please. I need to know if I should have multiple metamask wallets to connect each of my hardware wallets too its just unnecessary work on my end

I don't know but I'm pretty sure the internet has better resources of information for something like this than 4chan

Thanks for replying. You would think that but I can't seem to find the answer using search engines so I figured it would be easier to directly ask people my question. There are (or at least used to be) a lot of educated and helpful people that have been around for years and should know.

go to reddit or telegram. Or ask their support channels. They can't send shit without your PIN or SEED.

So even if the entire computer was hacked as long as I don't enter the pin or seed anywhere on the computer I should be good? I even use a whole different computer for my crypto transactions and its only ever been on like 5 pages total all crypto related.

Alright fucko. You can set up metamask to unlock with your ledger. If someone has your seed for metamask (you fucked up if they do) they can’t access your ledger. This is because they would need to somehow either know your ledger code or know the seed for your ledger itself. So no, your metamask balance being hacked couldn’t lead to anything on your ledger being compromised.

>> No.30387754

>>30387614

This is more or less what I thought thanks for the confirmation. Its all hypothetical and my Metamask and all hardware devices should be secure.

>If someone has your seed for metamask (you fucked up if they do) they can’t access your ledger.

This includes the ledger/trezor being plugged in and connected to compromised Metamask wallet in real time? They still can't do shit because the pin authorizes trades and seed is nowhere to be accessed anyway?

Exactly. They gain access to only part of your system. This is why hardware wallets are so good. Someone literally had to have a wrench to your head to get access to your funds.

Maybe try reading the OP you nigger. I already tried that. I have nearly 7 figures in crypto and want to know if hardware wallets gain more security risk exposure to MM.

not true

there was a ceo from some project some months ago who had a compromised metamask and the hacker changed the receiving adress of the transaction.

you always have to pay attention which adress is shown on the ledger, bc thats where your funds go

just make sure the adress displayed on your ledger is actually the adress you want to send tokens to and you will be fine, no hacker can send a tx from your ledger but there is indeed the possibility of them changing the receiving adress in metamask but you still need to send the tx from your ledger

>> No.30388986

>>30388580
I see and makes sense. Thank you I'll be sure to double check the addresses. Is it possible they could change it in the middle of the transaction while processing after I confirmed the recipient Metamask address was correct or that would that just cancel the transaction or is just simply not possible?

>> No.30389231

>>30388986
nope that is not possible, the receiving adress you sign is the last step before the tx is broadcasted, they can only change the adress before you confirmed it
