Hey /biz/ have you ever had to explain to your accountant your shitcoin investments? What was the reaction? I recently told him about my EGG staking gains and he just couldn't wrap his head around the whole thing.

I went to a local tax guy once, back in '18, and told him about my crypto trades (coinbase / bittrex with1099s) and he told me to send him the transactions and he'll take a look. So I send him a CSV with the thousands of transactions. The dude fucking ghosted me. Never contacted me back, and whenever I called the receptionist would just say he was out but he'd "call back." I gave up and just did the taxes myself. Was a fucking pain in the ass, and moved to defi after that. Don't report shit now, just on / off fiat. I wouldn't report EGG gains, lol. Just when you cash out.

I'm not reporting any DeFi since I'm not cashing out that part into fiat yet. But I just explained the whole thing to see what would be the playbook and he was just so confused at the whole thing. Honestly I'm sure if he wasn't a family friend he would've dropped me as a client, since I'm definitely his least "traditional" client.
