Let's talk work hours. I know this is a sensitive issue for many, especially burgers with their retarded work ethics and mentality, but I am sick and tired of 8 hours 5 day per week. It's too much honestly. Even Keynes predicted a 15 hour work week by 2030, yet we haven't had any noticeable progress since the 70s and even that was minor.
I believe with the current productivity levels we have (at least in the developed world) we should mandate a 6 hour 5 days per week work week, or an 8 hour 4 days per week work week.
At the very least there should be a 35 hour work week as it is in France by law, although even there it is rarely respected and capitalist pigs do not follow the law, rather utilize loopholes to exploit our fellow wagie brothers.

I work about 100 hours a week, not kidding. I fucking hate it. It's not sustainable, not worth how much I get paid, and generally a bad idea. Seriously I need to stop. I'm a consultant, by the way. "Working from home" for the past year basically means working 24/7.

>> No.30259098

I agree anon. I wake up ok and get some work done but by 3 o clock my head hurts, I'm miserable, restless and can't focus. Sure I could take an hour lunch break to recharge, but then I'd have to work later and cut into my precious evening time. Its like a weird psychological prison. I'm in my home, I could do whatever I want, the only thing keeping me waging is integrity and a small bit of fear that someone would find out I wasn't working. But instead I suffer. I get very depressed because I know it'll never get better unless I can make it and retire early.

I've literally gotten about 1.5 hours of sleep per night every night for the past week, because I'm working til 5:00-5:30 in the morning every night and have a meeting to start at 6:30. My workstation is a computer on a table that sits over my bed, so I literally just fall asleep and wake up again. Seriously this fucking sucks, but I just keep doing it knowing that I WILL retire early in life and then just quit and be able to do literally nothing at all if I want.

I was given this job in a "prestigious" consulting firm when I was really unqualified, and I spent like 9 months applying for jobs to get it. That 9 months gap in my resume looks bad, and I never ever want to go back to the hell of looking for a job like that again. So that's why I'm doing this, at least for a while, until I have something to prevent me from ever having to go back to that hell again.

I should mention I have a wife and son, but I'm working practically 24/7 at this point. I make a point not to work at least most of the day every Saturday though.

Right now I'm employed by my local University. I work Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 9-5. And honestly, I love it. The 3 day work week makes it such that I'm actually busy during my 3 days, and I am ready to go back to work at the end of my 4 days off. Hell, I'll even think of "what should I be tackling first" on my off days so that I'm prepared for my work days.

This schedule has prevented burnout (for now, at least), and actually improved my enjoyment of working. On top of that I get to pursue and enjoy other hobbies and activities on my days off. Instead of fucking around for 5 days with my Friday crawling by as I try and find tasks to do (but not too many tasks, don't want to do too much and then get exploited!), I am able to get a week's worth of tasks done in just three days.

I honestly believe this is how things should be done and I want everyone to have this schedule.

>35 hour work week

Yeah no I'm on a 35 hour work week and the only reason it is 35 hours is because they don't pay your 1 hour lunch break, so you still effectively are at work 40 hours.

The best schedule I ever had was a 4/4 it was basically 2 days of 12's, 2 nights of 2's, 4 off, then 4 days of shorts (7 hour shifts) 4 off repeat. Union so paid sick days, benefits etc salary cap of 70,000/yr but could push 100 with OT

Gave up that job for a better position/title but same pay for a 5/2. Love my job a lot more now but wage slaving on a 5/2 makes the job itself being better not worth it.

If you hate the 40 hour find a job where at least you get a shift pattern that doesn't force you at work 5 days out of the week.

It is essentially calories in vs calories out. Diets that eliminate a certain macro-nutrient all work for that same exact reason. You got those low carb diets, low fat diets, high carb diets etc and people make gains and then believe it is because of the elimination of a macro-nutrient not the calorie deficit.

But weight loss is effectively purely calories in vs calories out - not working out. In a calorie deficit working out helps you to retain muscle you already have and help your cardio-vascular system.

Fasting works for the same exact reason as stated above. Calories in vs Calories out.

So your focus should be on muscle retention and the deficit, doesn't matter how you achieve that deficit. Working out helps you burn more calories but only really accounts for like 5-10% of the calories of your entire day burned since your basic metabolic rate is burning calories 24/7.

>High protein
to retain muscle
>Calorie deficit
to drop weight

Easy as that. People overcomplicate it for some reason.

Just go for a brisk 1.5hr walk every single day. And by brisk I mean walk like you're trying to get somewhere in a hurry but don't want to break into a light jog. Just imagine you are constantly walking by small groups of negro males. Pretend the silence you hear is them stopping their games of dice to watch you pass by.
If you keep up a good pace and do this for just a few days you'll start feeling results. Just pick a coffee shop or convenience store somewhere far enough away and walk there every day to get a coffee or bottle of water. Just remember you have to keep walking at a decent pace to get the benefits so time your trips and each day try to match or beat your times without running. After a couple weeks you might want to turn it into a jog and if you do your body won't violently reject it.

Seriously, regular brisk walks will make you feel like a million bucks. That's why grannies go to the mall to do them.

But you need something you can do every day and unless you live next to a golf course I doubt you'll be going more than once or twice a week, even if you bought a club membership. You need to start pumping your heart regularly so your body begins to expect exercise and starts burning calories instead of storing them as fat. You can't train your body to do that if you only get exercise a couple times a week. It has to be every single day. And it doesn't have to be much, just an hour or so of moderately high heart rate is all your body needs to get the idea.

It is not calories in calories out. On a cellular level yes, but it's not like you can drink a gallon of gasoline and expect that to be turned into energy. Same applies to normal food. If your metabolism is in a state where it only burns glucose for energy you won't burn any fat at all. On the other hand if you can put your body into a very efficient state of ketosis you won't burn any muscle as long has you have fat in your body.

I've had those and I leave them off even though it creates a gap. It gives me an opportunity to can some responses when they ask me to explain the gap in my resume.
I don't talk shit about the job though, I use it to tailor a contrast between what I got and what I really want (which is actually just bullshit the interviewer wants). Then I tee them up for a good round of "what's your biggest accomplishment?" by saying I want my resume to be a showcase and not just a list. This also gets me out of the "greatest failure/biggest weakness" question, too.

I like interviewing for jobs way more than I like having one.

This is exactly right. "Calories in calories out" is way too simplified. What you want to do is to burn fat. By feeding yourself salad your metabolism stays in a state where it burns glucose. You're probably starving yourself with too little carbs while still eating enough of them to prevent your body from shifting it's metabolism to a state in which you would start burning ketones (fat). Exercise, healthy eating (enough good fats too) and sleeping enough will help. For a healthy person a quick and certain way to start burning fat is simply to stop eating. Since I don't personally know you O have to recommend you to consult your doctor and do some research on fasting before trying it out

Listen to this man.
Consulting is a scam to take advantage of people who are ambitious, motivated, but most importantly, naive. They sell you the illusion of prestige and success. You get a name on your resume and you pay for it with your soul. Most of the work you do is slaving over Powerpoint decks for projects that have no guarantee of seeing the light of day. What is it all for? To fill the pockets of people who made partner? It's literally a pyramid scheme of labor. Let's say you make 120k a year...sounds great but you're working 80 hr weeks so in reality you're being paid the same rate as someone making 60k. Sure you make more money in the same amount of time but you're sacrificing your well-being for it. When you approach your life's end, you WILL regret trading your life for money this inefficiently. This is why I asked you about your exit strategy, you can find a much more pleasant job that pays just as well.
Think hard about what success really means. If you're defining it solely by your career, you need to reexamine your life.

The reason people tell you to prioritize calories in proteins/fats is because they will satiate your hunger for longer periods of time. They staffed me as a junior at €500/day with zero experience and zero training, yet I'm the so called specialist. It took me weeks to figure out even basic shit about the project. I was afraid the client would get rid off me but in the end they didn't care and asked to keep me longer.

I lived this lifestyle for a few years. I used to power nap on the floor with my phone next to my head sometimes Eventually I downshifted into a job with "great work life balance" and I'm still at that job. But we pulled in a consulting company to helps us launch a new product and they work like this too. So it's turning our company into what I left my last job to get away from.
I don't know why working like that is a thing. There's seldom anything that is so urgent that you need to pull an all nighter for. The only exception I would make is either correcting a large expensive fuckup or a system outage. I have been pushing back on it as much as I can to protect the people I manage but for some reason they're fighting me to work more. Even though everyone is salaried, we're on target for deliverables and there's literally no reason for it.
I've been with my company for almost 10 years and I used to love it but I'm burned out and I'm looking for another job. But it seems like in software this is becoming the norm.

I've been WFH for the past year doing web dev. The year prior I worked super hard in the office and spent time learning outside of work, since I'm a self-taught junior and I felt like needed to prove myself a bit. With all the free time I had during furlough (Britbong) I got into /lit/ material on capitalism and now my ambitions have taken a huge nosedive, no pun intended. It was like finding out Father Christmas isn't real. Some weeks I literally do not even open my code editor, much less write anything. It's getting to a point where it's becoming a problem. My pay is way below the market rate but I am struggling to motivate myself to study for another job. I'm considering doing a CS degree online to get a better understanding of the fundamentals and set me up for the future. Though what I really want is to be free from all this. I'm not a lazy person, I want to work hard. But the vast majority of jobs I can see don't seem worth working hard for.
Anyway thanks for reading my blog. Most other people I know are so ingratiated into the system that any attempt at discussion will usually be met with banalities such as "that's just how it is". It's relaxing reading this thread knowing there are other wagie bros out there who can relate.

Self-teaching can get you a job and keep you in work, but I do think the more fundamental skills learned on a CS degree would probably hold you in better stead for the future given how rapidly tech evolves. A CS degree is definitely not a necessity though. Learning to code is not much different from the actual job so if it works for you I'd say go for it. are you proud of yourself or something? You should feel sick to your guts for throwing away your life like that. I hope you're making digits for retirement by the end of this year.

The more you work a week the less productive you are, idk why jews dont get that.

I literally work 112 hours a week

Faggot. Idk what you do but you assume things can actually be done that fast when everyone is a lazy pos. I work 4 10 hours days a week and it’s kino. Actually finish more shit than 8 hour days and 3 day weekend is nice

Read bullshit jobs. Up until he starts advocating UBI (and the rest of his retarded politics) it’s pretty good

I don't mind doing roughly 40 hours a week too much, my biggest annoyance is I can actually complete a reasonable 'weeks worth' of work in 4 days if everyone involved is efficient and productive, which is rarely the case. If we trimmed unnecessary crap and everyone pulled their weight we could be enjoying 3 day weekends permanently at my work. Oh yeah that would also rely on upper management not just wanting even more work done.

I read something once that the average modern wagie works more than than the average peasant did in feudal times. Is this true?

I've automated a lot of my job (statistics, modelling oil spills) with R, Python, Matlab scripts, etc.
Spend all day browsing /biz/ and trading crypto, spend an hour running my scripts and checking things, charge 8 hours, boomer management clueless.

How long does it take to do this sort of shit? How much programming knowledge do you need? And lastly how versatile is this, ie what kind of things can you automate. I have wanted to try to do shit like this but i have absolutely 0 coding experience

A lot of it is predictive modelling, what hydrocarbon concentrations will be present in groundwater in 1, 5, 10 years etc. Lab sample reports are standardized, so once you have your data in long format, you can re-run the same script. R works for most applications and is pretty easy to learn, so start there. Use R-Studio, easier to learn with than base R.

Ok now I can see how entitled you think you are and thats probably why hes not giving you anything.
If you have a load of money whats the insentive to go out and earn more money if you can live a comfy life?
What makes a man is makiing it on his own not getting financial help from people.
Quit complaining and accept life and maybe you will be something one day rather than a wagie

You’re far stronger than you realize my friend. It takes much more than spinsters to break a man with your self awareness. Don’t give in. I believe in you. I don’t know what you’ll do but you’ll figure it out!

The best way is to work two back-to-back thirty-hour "shifts" interrupted by a few hours of sleep, then take the remainder of the week "off" for whatever you like.

I walk and work in the garden a lot too and avoid shitty carbs during the week.
