does anyone know if you can get a higher price than your limit sell price on a call? i cant find this answer on google

like with stock shares, you can set a sell limit of $20 for example, but if the current trading is at $40 you might get your sells near that higher number of $40

do calls work the same way? if i set sell price for a call of $200 when the market rate is $400, will my call get sold for cheap at $200 or will it get sold at the going rate of other asks near $400?

and why cant i sell calls with a market sell? im restricted to limit only which makes timing the pumps and dips from volatility hard

Debt bubble is the biggest, most terrifying bubble in existence right now. BTC could crash and it wouldn't dent it. Stocks could "correct" for a year and it wouldn't dent it. Real estate could crash and it would hardly care. But if the bond market collapses, all of those things would be DEEP DEEP DEEP red
Everything the Fed is doing is to plug up holes in the debt market. Has been for 2 decades. They will fail at some point but that will be a once in a generation collapse of nearly all assets that will make the Great Depression forgettable.

It is an old idea. You buy when something is oversold (under the mean) and sell when its overbought (well above the mean).
Most algos are primed to punish people for it. Contrarian strategies work better. Buy when it goes from blue to white (averaging up) and sell if it ever threatens to go from white to blue.
Usually the mean line has an upward slope to it so that gives you profits anyway.
Time value of money is too important to use the first method.

you might just be like the wealthiest of traders.
you like to go from nothing to everything to nothing. I had an uncle who went from $200 to $40k in a couple months trading options. He lost it all within a few more weeks because he lost his groove.
eventually he made it.
you can make it too. you're paying a price to play.

I do know how you feel. I once lost $1k, then 2k, then my whole portfolio in a last ditch effort to force my account back to where I started with options leverage. I got too heated and traded when I didn't need to trade and learned a valuable lesson. it kept me from trading stonks for several years. I missed out on a lot of opportunities in that time. I got back in recently. I have been up 10-20% and down 30% on different days trading hard plays. I do it with a few grand so I'm not as beat up as last time if it blows up. I am doing this to learn and get engaged. you know why I'm happy? because being in the market, even if I lost money this week, I saw the signal to move my 401k before the hard dip, probably saved myself $5k already just with that, though I haven't looked yet. The lessons will always be more valuable to you in the future than the losses, because you are still alive, anon.

there's not a high enough volume for the brokerage order flow to benefit you. they take all the difference between the market price (ask) and what your order executed at, so it will be the same as doing a market order... in stocks, where the volume is very high, there's usually a possibility that they will find an order a little higher than your limit even if it isn't showing up, due to order flow, and they will extend some of the difference to you.

tl;dr a too low limit will execute like a market order.

also you should trade options with market orders often. that causes you to dip all the way to the ask even if it's low. I HAVE seen spreads like 0.40 ask and 1.40 bid, and while nothing filled, if someone executed a market sell order by mistake, it would fill at 0.40. same reason if you put in the limit too low, it may well fill that low. Aim for the middle of the bid and the ask, and if you need to speed up the sale, adjust your limit.

Sorry anon, I only tried Admiral Markets and Oanda.
Oanda is pure FX on steroids and Admiral Markets is from what I know is pure leveraged CFD crap (overnight fees apply, etc.) that you trade with MetaTrader using algorithms designed by poor russian "investors"

My friend uses Degiro which may have higher selection of instruments but it does have commissions. I also checked TD Ameritrade and they apparently allow yuro customers, but you better double check that.

I have been using etoro since 2019 before the whole retail craze and I can tell how worse the news feed has become. Not to mention that in the past the leverage on stocks was much higher despite lower selection of instruments to trade. Now I have 1x only penny stocks but I want to short FB with 10x leverage ffs.

I really hope they expand the selection of instruments, still. From what my contact in there told me, they gonna add more jap and canuck stocks + CD Projekt Red.

Besides
>video game stocks
not even fucking once. I'd rather go long on REITs, oil, insurance finance, industrials, utilities and mining with stable fundamentals and solid 3-6% yearly dividend yields.

My AEP position is way down since I bought it on ex-dividend last year, but all the red means more discount for re-investing, so I can buy more for a higher dividend yield.
I literally cannot lose with this approach, esp. if 50% of my equity is cash, ready to buy the next dip.

The problem is that they're all interconnected through various instruments and derivatives. Even if a bubble that is mostly concerned with the NASDAQ bursts, it will bring down the rest of the market with it. When NASDAQ burst in 2000 it went down 70% and SP500 still went down 40%. Index investing having exploded more over the last decade only makes the problem worse. The more passive dumb money in the market, the more concentrated the market - the harder everything falls if one domino comes down.

Okay so this is a bit of DD about SOXL.
What I am about to show is that this should basically be impossible statistically speaking that a cycle would repeat itself with this accuracy. As questionable as TA sometimes may be, this particular analysis is not even complicated or reading tea leafs, this is just comparing past declines with the current one.

The percent decline of Feb 14th to March 19th 2020 of SOXL is exactly the same as the percent decline of Feb 16th to yesterday (March 4th).

SOXL is falling at EXACTLY the same percent per day rate as it did EXACTLY one year ago. This by all accounts should be statistically impossible but here we are. Either this is orchestrated to price out retail investors who were heavy in tech and semiconductors, or we're really living a self-fulfilled prophecy of exactly the same crash on exactly the same time period as 2020 occurring.

Assuming the market is on a highway to hell:
> if I close positions at loss, I'll have more cash to invest when it reached the bottom, gaining more in the end if I time the market right; but I will never forget the pain of selling at loss, and I'm not good at timing the market
> if I hold and wait, I can DCA and break-even in the end, without worrying about the timing
Assuming the market will realise that still TINA and rebound:
> if I close positions at loss, I'm screwed
> if I hold and wait, I get my money back and have a chance of some sweet gains

I think I figured out the best trading strategy for now: I should go for a walk.
