Nailed it. It was like the first SecondLife or VRchat but with lore and adventures. You had to figure stuff out, talk to people. Some mysteries were just beyond solving.

Now it’s quest arrows, maps with markers, guides and help menus for every little thing. Once the populations started declining and they did that whole cross server thing with dungeon ques they killed the social aspect of it and the uniqueness of the game was basically done. Now it’s just CoD with spells and even those they fucked up. No more min max builds or stacking stats. No more downranking heals to save mana. It’s all ez mode so kids can win. Kids just don’t wanna wipe on the same boss for hours straight several nights a week a week to get it right. They wanna run through a dungeon spamming flashy spells, doesn’t really matter which ones or what they do, healers heal, everyone resurrects everyone and the boss drops loot just for you.

I was eying it today on my computer and almost clicked it cause I haven’t been back in a while but I do log on from time to time and walk around Stormwind or Ironforge. They were so empty last time.

I remember starting a new character (nelf hunter) in early TBC. I’m a completionist so I wanted to do everything, finish every quest, explore every area including trips to enemy starting zones.
