I don't think most people are grasping what this project encompasses; is there even a comparable frame of reference in crypto?

bao is:
- synths
- an entire defi ecosystem of products running on any chain

and only incidentally, in support of those goals:
- liquidity pooling for any bao-* tokens on any chain
- yield farming

most importantly, it will be a brand, and set of currencies that are known and used on every chain, delivering trust and consistency.
