How is it a waste if it’s worth more than it cost to produce with electricity? Television is a waste. Smart phones are wastes. Driving places when you can bike or walk is a waste etc

Proof of stake will kill PoW. Bitcoin will likely be banned by governments worldwide due to the environmental impact in coming years.

>> No.30197499

It's called being indoctrinated your whole life to love the system. The rigged corrupted system with its horde of fools will do anything to save it. They will use any reasonably believable bit propaganda to cuck themselves forever despite the very obvious flaws in their weak pathic attempts at an argument. You'll never see them complain about the energy use or pollution caused my anything else because that doesn't further their agenda. Attaching your name to shit flinging like this.. no shame no game.

>> No.30197573

Bitcoin mining is absolutely retarded with how crypto has developed elsewhere. That processing power could be used for real work.
In the other hand this monetary analysis is pure divination and will be used to justify sanctimonious nonsense, and that really is how politics works.

Well obviously it does use a lot of energy. PoS is all around a better system as long as the incentives are designed correctly. All current protocols besides ETH, which isn't live, suffer from the nothing at stake problem.

All those studies are obviously disingenuous. They would compare it to the alternative if their concern was honest and their intent scientific.
Also everyone forgets Layer1, renevable-based miners, how mining/pow can be used as a kind of battery when demand isn't high enough and also may make remote energy locations viable.

in a non-clown world, the energy-costs of crypto would be bullish for nuclear, but because we live a matriarchal hellscape, we have to freeze everything we're doing so we can all sit down a think of a plan instead of putting the pedal to metal and just outrunning every problem through accelerated, unrestrained innovation.

I honestly don't understand this argument? What do they think traditional banking systems run off of? Magic financial energy? Something powers all the servers, PCs and networking equipment. At least crypto doesn't generate a lot of fucking paper waste printing out useless shit

It's conditioning. History proves that industries which found themselves accumulating a lot of wealth were always hit with protests and labelled as bad for the environment. Only thing is back then less people cared. It continues and whenever some natural disaster happens, it's time to freakout and blame someone who profited. Tale as old as time.

Only argument they can't fight on this one is how much energy current banking uses. I guarantee much more than crypto, but they can't say anything about it because they get their cheques from them.

ITT: people missing the point that vehicles are necessary and PoW mining is not.
Just accept that your PoW shitcoin is obsolete and PoS is better. Imagine if the computer power used for creating coins was dedicated to BOINC, it would massively help increase scientific progress. If you think money is more important than progressing our understanding of the universe then you aren't white.

They say:
>Centralized Banking System use power but it is good
And they also say:

Question: Why one bad if other good?

>> No.30203422

>PoW mining is not.
monetary systems underpin all human industry and development; a more efficient lifeblood would improve the rate ate which better vehicles are thought of and built; bitcoin adoption simply puts us in a different growth complexity; the energy costs now—which btw are fucking less than anything else comparable so there's not even a fucking argument here I shouldn't have bothered typing this—are ignorable.

>> No.30203605

Always nice when they skip overthe massive amounts of land required for the cotton for fiat money, and the power the centralized banking systems need as well.
Breaking news, doing things costs energy. More at 11.

>> No.30203895

>>30203415
I'm not defending the central banking system, I'm saying that proof of work is wasteful and proof of stake should be used instead. Both PoW AND Central Banks need to fuck off. Of course due to the large number of people invested in the objectively shittiest coin of all (Bitcoin) that happens to be PoW, they all get pissy when this is pointed out.

>PoS is better
It's older than PoW and has never worked for securing value. It can probably work for things like executing short term code that's later settled on chain.
Bitcoin mining means you have an incentive to harvest green energy in places you couldn't before. It might even be profitable soon to launch solar farms into orbit that just do the mining work there instead of trying to send the energy back with all the losses that you get doing that.

The actual issue is fossil fuel subsidies and monopolized control over supply which means they can temporarily dump on the market to lower prices to smother competition.
