it's the concept of ownership of it rather then just the source.

like the mona lisa. you could own a replica of the mona lisa (prnt screen) . but you won't own "The" mona lisa.

funcionaly they are the same.

you guys don't get it, it's a money laundering scheme. that's why the art world is taking NFTs seriously; it's an extension of what they're already doing. they can tell the IRS, "Yes, agent, I sold this digital masterpiece for $37,000 because it's the only one of its kind. Here's the mint. Trust me."

>> No.30180622

I think the only way this works is if you need a verified nft to use in some capacity or have contract attached to it.

So let's say stock photo is an NFT where a percentage of sale goes to author, now if BBC is only allowed to used NFTs and not right click save - this works.

that's why they go 3# out of 100# etc.

there are limited genuine copies avaliable. to put it simply the value comes in being able to validate the art via the unique blockchain so you know you have a genuine piece.

an accurate comparison would be if 20 mona lisas were painted identically by Da Vinci then he gave each owner a password and kept a list of 20 passwords in his vault passed down by his family, who then could check and confirm the code privately with anyone who is buying or exhanging a mona lisa with another person so the family makes sure it matches up and is a genuine van Gogh original.

sure people could replicate mona lisas but when the code mismatches or is wrong it gives away it isn't a Van Gogh lisa. the difference is given the unique blockchain system means a code couldn't be faked without trying to intercept and conflict the original code and getting outed as fake.

Ya it's an incredibly speculative market running mostly on hype/virality atm but this is a pivotal moment for crypto. Even though most of it is garbage this is one of the first normie friendly crypto ideas to go mainstream. This is necessary and a great sign for adoption. Also zoom out and think of how important NFTs in gaming, VR, personal data, fill in the blank will be. This is the beginning of an important chapter in crypto

NFTs don’t have to be artwork lmao. They can be sued to represent something in the real world. A remote claim to gold, a car, digital art, Other altcoons, literally virtualize anything and have it store value that is untraceable. It’s basically Monero but with more flexibility to own and hide anything not just Monero.

This is it. Art is pmnothing compared to the real economic use of nft in any kind of digital product. Resale of old videos would even be possible for example. The real issue with second hand game selling is that publishers don't want people to be able to sell their old copies but still be able to play the game. Nfts can solve that, though I'm not sure if game publishers would be on board.

The token and the art are separate entities. You own a token, you do not own the art.
Your ownershop of the token allows you the unique ability to transact it on a blockchain. However, every person on the planet can interact with "your" art in exactly the same way as you.

Again, you do not own art. You own a token. The link between the token and the art is a fabrication to get you to overpay for the token.
