Welcome friends please gather round, but stay the forms and pen,
For I must but declare to you my losses suffered then,
Twas on a calm delightful morn I made the fateful trip,
My vessel so encumbered with my metal stern to tip,
The pressure drops and weather fronts of these I took no heed,
And so thus fully loaded did my ship and I make speed,
When at the twenty mile mark I could not see the land,
Did waves then strike with godly might from Neptune's forceful hand,
The winds were fierce, the current strong, and nought that I could do,
But watch my lady, gold and all descend into the blue

I had a neighbor that had the same obsession back in the 1-900 # days.. swore this girl was in love with him because she would mail him polaroids after he would spend literally tens of hours @ 2.99$ minute per week on her. He blew thru his 400k inheritance in less than one year, starting cashing rubber checks and ended up going to jail.. I remember the day the apartment complex trashed out his evicted apartment.. I offered to help the guys with the heavy couch and maggot filled fridge (was 2 months for the eviction to go thru). Found the polariods and we split them up...

Ebay has tons of fakes of popular bullion all china sellers.
I bought several different bars to examine.
here is what I found
They dont do the corners correctly its a different radius then the real ones have.
They all come in plastic capsules
They are all slightly too heavy.

I only buy bars on ebay if they are still sealed in their mint packaging or they are old bars.
I would be wary of any newer style bars being sold in plastic capsules.

We dismantled what our ancestors built for us. Consider what once was:
>arranged marriage to a virgin from an equivalent status family to yours
>she comes with homemaking skills and a dowry
>divorce for trivial woman reasons is impossible
>you both have a community that you belong to
>you have meaningful work that provides for a family
>you raise children and grow old together

Now you have a parasocial relationship with an overaged e-thot to whom you send virtual currency. Sometimes she mentions your name on a livestream. You smile and fantasize that she loves you. The next morning you put your covid mask on and resume your service industry job, making sure you greet each customer according to SOP to ensure that you get a 5/5 on your KPI surveys.

This is true for the most part but those bills will last a surprising amount of time since they're laminated between 2 sheets of plastic and woven into cloth. With such a tiny amount of gold in each one the loss in gold is negligible. Silver makes sense for everyday purchases too but we would have to bring coin purses back into fashion. It's much easier short-term to use something like a goldback than to expect people to carry around silver coins, just pop the goldback in your wallet, you can carry a lot of them in a little space. For everyday trading in gold it's the only way to make it viable.

You are right about the durability, I looked into it more and it's actually not bad (obviously not as good as a coin, but it's pretty good). Goldbacks only work for larger denominations. If you are carrying around a bunch of 1 gbs you might as well just carry merc dimes. At higher values the weight of silver does become prohibitive, so as a stopgap fad I guess it's fine. Realistically if we went back to a metal standard though silver would be so much more valuable that even a merc dime or a 1 goldback would be far too much for small transactions, we would need to utilize a copper penny or something else.

I'm not really sure if I'm understanding this right but since I can't find a single piece of reliable data on gold prices in the 80s Brazil. Based on this data I guess the best price to offload your Gold is right after before a new currency comes in?

Copper pennies are worth a little over 2 cents in metal right now, nickels are worth around 5. Doing it by coins alone you would probably need to carry around a merc dime / war nickel. The place you're buying from would break that dime into nickels and pennies and you would go somewhere to unload your pockets, or just have a proper coin purse on you as modern pockets aren't designed to carry 20 nickels in them. Nickels are more effective than pennies weight-wise and they're also widespread enough without having to find ones made out of a certain material, whereas less than half of pennies are copper and normies can't be bothered to remember that 1982 is the cutoff year for them.

A myriad of potential catalysts that could send precious metals soaring are right around the corner: bond market collapse, stock market correction, COMEX default, YCC announcement, dollar loses world reserve status, etc. Any one of these would send investors fleeing into gold and silver, and miners are obviously leveraged to PM prices. So, yes, right now, with heavily manipulated PM prices, and none of these catalyst events having occurred yet, mining stocks appear to be dubious investments. But, sooner or later, something will happen in the markets or global economy which will cause a land rush into PM mining stocks unlike anything we've ever seen. Could be a week, a month, or a year. No one knows. But I'd rather be too early than too late.

Do you guys think this current drop of silver prices will continue medium to long term, or do you think it's temporary? There's some new stock online and I'm tempted to buy more.

I'm thinking it's a temporary drop as there was a lot of silver delivered the last couple months. There is an influx of new silver, and a few profit takers selling old stacks for whatever reason. Lots of newer coins right now online with prices $2-3CAD cheaper than last week (or it could be CAD rising vs US dollar) and even some older stuff coming out of the woodwork.

How did we manage to transact 200 years ago with pennies then? I don't see how it would be an issue, it's not like using silver coins for daily transactions is a radical concept that's never been tried before. Although perhaps with silver's true value in modern times, it actually would ultimately be unsuitable for use as money whereas gold as much more consistent stock to flow and less industrial demand. I just don't like the idea of creating a currency that is only 50% "backed" by the metal it's made of, with the other 50% being faith that since it's expensive to make that's the true price. $3.40 is the cheapest I've found for a goldback online right now which is literally double spot, so it's more speculation on price movements for a novelty than anything.

>>30171363
People carried around coinpurses and make a lot less money back then, meaning a copper coin was MUCH stronger. It's doable today but it would take a LOT of work seeing as most normies still think pennies are 100% copper and would have no idea how to convert from penny to nickel to war nickel to silver dollar. It will take a lot of standardizing, not saying it can't be done though.
I agree that goldbacks have some drawbacks but it's almost comparable to the value a silver eagle holds, where they keep the value of the premium on top of the normal metal when you resell / trade them. It's just the value of the thing in itself, which is taking in account the supply side along with the buying / trading side. You may not like it knowing how money works but normies sure will since it's backed by gold more than any currency except actual gold right now. Them carrying that premium also means less gold is expended and it can be stretched further than normal, making it more viable for the general public.

I guess the lesson is that buying Gold in '86 did a much better job at protecting your purchasing power than anything else, but it certainly did not make anyone rich after stabilization.

If it reached that point gold price would rise anyway and even if the premium went down you'd be paying the same, or maybe even more. Goldbacks reaching a large audience means loss of the value of the dollar and those old holders will probably make out pretty good. Furthermore such a company would probably think exactly what you're thinking of and try not to reduce their premiums past a certain point since they wholesale it out to everyone else, they wouldn't destroy the price of their own asset like that. The bigger concern is them limiting supply / being unable to scale up.

You won't protect your PMs in a racially hostile confiscatory environment by getting a lawyer, anon. There's a floor term beyond which legal remedies don't work and there is nothing in contemporary society that says we won't bust through that floor.

But you do you, hope it works out.

where? In the US or Canada? In Canada old ground is some of the most reexplored territory going. Every abandoned mine stays staked for decades even if only minimal activity is going on. Same goes down in the US too. A claim staying unstaked probably means there isnt anything there, thats the general rule i ve found anyway. Just because it was staked at one point 100 years ago doesnt mean it payed out.

It’s not practical to stack fractional gold either. If you’re stacking, you want the lowest premiums period.
Goldbacks and fractional gold/silver have their place imo, but replacing regular bullion in your stack isn’t it.

I've been reading more and it seems that private individuals can sponsor new series for about a few hundred grand to about a few million:
https://goldback.com/sponsor-new-goldback-series

really don't know how well it'll catch on, but I'm glad the good people of new hampshire decided to sponsor a local series. if they can get the production price down to about a 50% premium, I'd buy more than 1 "collector" set and use them as real currency wherever possible.

save the goldbacks for the men and the merc dimes for the ladies if you catch my drift
