PM markets aren't as liquid. Gold is by far easiest to liquidate, followed by silver and plat/palad etc being distant third. you're taking a gamble that you won't find a buyer if you get a non monetary metal.

in a perfect world, Au/Ag/Pt/Pd would be priced in proportion to their scarcity, but this would cause ridiculous differences in prices. the palladium supply was 9 million ounces in 2018 whereas gold was 107 million. this puts Pd at about 12x the price point of gold. Supplies of Pt was about 8 million oz in 2018 and silver was 900 mil.

900:107:9:8 for Au:Ag:Pd:Pt
so if silver costs $1, gold would cost $8.4, Pd = $100 & Pt = $112.5.

theres an anon here always posting about scarcity investing. he's probably right. i hope my math is ok there.

this is not meant to be realistic expected profits, bc clearly gold is much more valuable in proportion to its scarcity because of its other properties. ie: too much scarcity is bad for a monetary asset as it will be not liquid enough.

Can any big brains figure this out for me? Do I have to pay sales tax on bullion over 1k in NY or not? My lcs is all cleared out and I may have to go to the big city dealers to get more but don’t want to pay tax. Yes I know to try and ask for the “cash price” but that may not work downtown.

Some fairly cheap meal ideas:
Pancakes/Waffles
Biscuits and gravy (fantastic way to extend meat)
Chili
Stew
Soup
Curry
Fried rice
Hard boiled eggs
Pizza (make it yourself, it's stupid easy)
Every pasta dish known to man
Tuna/Chicken casserole
Baked potatoes/mashed potatoes as a side
Oatmeal
Oatmeal cookies

Basically if it can be made with: potatoes, rice, flour, beans, eggs, etc. then it should be affordable. I don't know Euro pricing but eggs here in bumfuck Idaho are $0.09/each ($1/dozen). As such, eggs are your best friend ever.

How to eat cheaply:
>Chop tiny amount of meat up
>Chop vegetables up
>Add extender (rice for fried rice or curry, water for soup, noodles for pasta or casserole)
>Add spices
>Eat

Good luck stackerbro!

correct. this is why money should not be understood as a store of value, but rather: compression of work. refining is one of the aspects of the compression process is refining, which is included in the WORK concept but not the VALUE concept. spending the compression of work then decompresses it back into mechanical energy. ie: heres a piece of silver, be my slave now.

adopting this definition makes the selling points of PM that they do not lose stored work upon exchange, are fungible etc.

generally you want to invest in things which do not lose work and which may have speculative value added, such as real estate, gold etc.

this definition also makes it easier to understand how the central bank derives its power: they create work equivalents (billz) with negligible associated work: they get work for free, in short.

this is why the money should be backed by hemp. it is the best money, and will allow for the greatest support to common worker peasants, which are the vast majority of people. hemp is the truly democratic (in the good sense) thing to back currency.

good points right up until hemp-backed money, but you're right on the rest of it. I've been trying to suss out a way to explain the concept that 1 hour of work in 1935 earned 1 silver quarter (roughly 1/6th oz silver) which bought three loaves of bread in 1935, and is today still worth two loaves of bread, or one after the process of trading for a liquid exchange medium

What Musk, Saylor and Cuban have in common is that they're men of no account. Musk is simply a con-man and has been from day-one (the person to learn about this from in detail is Tesla Charts but simply have a look at www.tesladeaths.com for a start). Saylor scammed and defrauded his shareholders in 2000 and is so financially ignorant that he doesn't know what a bond yield is (also so arrogant that he simply deleted the tweet in question and admitted nothing). Mark Cuban got lucky in the Dotcom Bubble and that's the sole means by which he attained his riches. In our society it's the most worthless, the absolute froth who are permitted to rise to the top and have an important voice.

Im convinced that Musk saw the effects of the GME squeeze and when silver started getting mentioned he distracted attention from it by shilling BTC, essentially dumping 1 billion into and watching his money double and refocusing the attention of the WSB and reddit crowds to BTC. Then he cashes out (not before shorting a fuck ton of it) and watches it crash and moves the liquidity into PMs, mainly silver.

They are controlled puppets. You can watch the show Shark Tank, for example, and see Cuban, O'Leary, John making masonic hand signals. I would wager that these billionaires are people who were compromised by some group early on, and thus were allowed to have an easy path to success, so long as they don't stray off-course from their handlers' directives.

Hi guys. I've never, ever entered this thread. Been a /biz/reali for a few years now. Never had enough money to buy any precious metals, but I have made a lot from crypto and now I think is the time to diversify a little. I'd like to buy some silver. I'm from the UK. Is there a retard's guide to buying silver?
I don't want paper silver, or silver miner, I want to have the real deal that I can hold in my hand. I don't want to pay a premium. I'd like to pay as little as possible. I'd also like it if the government kept their fucking nose out, if possible.
I'd be willing to buy $10k worth of silver in one go if it was convenient enough.
Thanks.

Good post. I feel like the sense of dread and urgency, along with the notion of total collapse, is something that is forced on us. It doesn't sound logical that, if the world dumps the dollar as reserve currency, that the US would literally go into the dumpster overnight. It might be weeks before most Americans even are aware of it. Defensive measures are prudent, but spending tens of thousands of dollars on supplies and gear, instead of, say, gold and silver stocks, is simply just succumbing to marketing ploys of the prepper community and the manufacturers that profit off of it.

His pronoun is plural, not singular, so he's referring to all the stocks on the list and casting doubt on the general principle that silver stocks offer enormous leverage to the price of silver. As far as Impact Silver is concerned that's already trading at 30x cash flow and has carried a producer premium for years. By early 2020 it had already run up 3x from its 2015 low. Impact isn't a genuine microcap, it's simply a small cap. It has even traded above 1 CAD sometimes so not even technically a penny stock from one point of view. It's a good "core" stock to have in your portfolio of small caps, but we'd need to see something like $200 or $300 silver before it would go 100x.

OTOH hand I don't find it too outrageous to believe a cascading bank failure WOULD have repercussions overnight. I think, more than inflation, that is the risk with rising silver - that the rising price clashes with their suppression methods to break the derivatives system and cause a failure.

Were there to be the dreaded cascading bank failure it would take everybody's money and access to money with it in maybe a week. It takes time for logistics to be rebuilt when you no longer have a bank providing 30 day credit to smooth things along. I suspect supply chain disruptions would be extensive and, not even considering that, credit cards and ATMs would no longer work and the banks would be closed, with the account holdings being used to bail in the banks per Obama era legislation.

I'm not saying it will happen, but it's one potentiality.

Something else, you guys really know nothing about money or currency. Gold and silver are just valuable commodities. Throughout history the vast majority of TRANSACTIONS were done with credit based on trust. Only trade between tribes/villages/nations do you see commodities being used as a means of exchange but this trade only coalesced until recently and there were more people in medieval Europe and the Roman Empire transacting with credit or copper than with gold or silver. The average person in history never saw a gold coin or even a silver coin in their life because only elites, bankers and merchants used them to trade with each other because they never trusted each other. The only periods where regular peasants used silver coins were rather rare and abnormal. No matter how you feel about crypto (I’m against bitcoin) it’s the future of money and will be money because money is nothing but a means to an end, ie a medium of exchange.

answer: a fucking gang of armed individuals

arguably, if you cant convince a gang of grugs to protect you, you have no business being in possession of so much money if theft is a real concern. if you can't get a gang of loyal grugs, that's your problem. you'd have the option to buy protection from someone that could control a pack of grugs.

anyone with enough land and a modest amount of skill will he able to grow their own money, which will dilute the buying power of everyone else in the market. The limited supply of silver and gold is one of the things that makes it ideal money.
