Many, as is evident from the drop in participation rate, which in turns drops the unemployment rate despite weak job growth and in some cases, job losses. The proportion of working-age Americans that is actually employed is the lowest ever in decades. The "unemployment" rate is a very poor metric of actual labour force mobilisation. Total employed = Participation rate - (Participation rate * unemployment rate). We are years off being back to where we were pre-COVID and I don't think the US will ever exceed its 90's and pre-GFC labour force productivity.

I can't claim UC because I rent out the flat I bought when I was working and saved up enough.

invest in either fundamentals (longterm gains) or hype (short/midterm gains)
if you invest in fundamentals you just buy and hold for years, sell as it rises and buy as it goes down (with LIMIT orders set well in advance, not emotions)
if you invest in hype, you follow twitter/discord/telegram faggots and you jump on anything new based on how new it is and how popular it is, with a small % of your portfolio (1%, 2%, 10% absolute max), you choose a price point to get out before you buy and you get out once that price point is reached

Spain has one of the lowest retail participation rates in europe, around 50%. So half working age population is unemployed, and it was just as bad before covid :D

Usa retail force participation rate 62%, so 40% real unemplyoment.

Generally speaking always look at retail force part rate, forget politically adjusted unemplloyment rate. For example germany has horrible real unemplyoement rate while their "unemployment" rate is only 4%. Same goes with japan, they too use politically adjusted rates to make it look better

unlike most others who have responded, i understand the frustration of living in a small ass town with few job prospects. the travelling to cities for a decent job is an inconvenience. i also understand the frustration of the over-saturated job market. my advice? become self employed, dont work for anyone. what i ended up doing was learning to drive, buying a car and working as a self-employed delivery driver with the 3 major food delivery companies here. You can earn about the same as what the data entry job you looked at pays but you have the freedom to choose when you want to work. That was the best job ive ever had. Anytime i worked for someone i loathed it. With the money i made from that i was able to put decent amounts into crypto. I can still do it whenever i want but i dont need to anymore cause i did very well with crypto in 2020/21, and now im getting paid in farming/staking while i sleep, shit, eat and play playstation.

No. The only motivation anyone needs is the motivation to live. This faggot lives with his parents still so they are just going to baby him, which is infinitely worse in the long run than moving out and getting some job working paycheck to paycheck.

God damn i hate younger people on this board. They whine like they have it so bad and how life should just hand them a high paying job lmao. If this anon wants to end it now then might as well because its only going to get harder. I would suggest growing up and stop being a pussy.

Depends on your undergrad major. It doesn't make sense if your undergrad was finance or commerce, since you could just do your CPA or CFA in the same time frame and get a more valuable qualification. Good engineers should get a PEng and techies can get better certs like CISSP.
If you have a science degree or one of the less valuable eng degrees, you can use it to segue into a more lucrative management role. If you have previous management experience, an eMBA and/or PMP is a killer combo.

Which can easily be said about living with your parents. The fear of ending up an apartmentcuck in a ghetto area for life is also a good motivational tool. The problem is once people enter that lifestyle it is extremely hard to escape-i've been there and don't recommend it to anyone. Almost all your income is sucked up by just living, and you have little time for further education. Opportunities which start with little pay but provide high skill are unattainable due to rent being due.

It can be a really miserable existence and wagecucking is definitely not fulfilling if you're an intelligent person. best advice i can give you, like i gave another anon in this thread, is to work for yourself. you must have some interests or passions that you could explore. if not, learn how to drive and get a car if you dont already. not saying that will solve things but it will open doors and opportunities. working as a self employed delivery driver for uber eats/just eat/deliveroo was the best job i ever had cause working hours are totally flexible and you're not stuck in the same place all day. that allowed me to invest in crypto and now live a much comfier lifestyle.

what the military does is provide people upward mobility. You don't have to be a tank gunner, you know. The military is just a welfare program. And if it's not your guys with guns bossing around the world, it's somebody else's. I never joined the military, and probably wouldn't even if i were to do my life over again, but this criticism thereof doesn't hold much water I've grown to realize. If you join the military, and get into the officer class, worst case scenario is you're indoctrinated into a homosexual cult, no big deal.

This by any means the norm and can't be used to blanket the job market. I'm sure it's heavily dependent on industry but in some industries there is absolutely an overabundance of applicants. I'm a mechanical engineer fag who was relocating to California from Ohio and wanted to secure a new job first before quitting my current one. It took me about a year to land a job and sites like LinkedIn that show application statistics showed a number of jobs having between 500 and 1000 applicants within a month of posting. The minimums I'd see would be like 50 applicants. I know a lot of people apply to jobs they don't have any fucking chance of landing but I wouldn't doubt in my case that there were at least 20 qualified candidates applying to each job I was within a few weeks of the posting going up

Also just thinking about getting married and having kids that gets pushed back the longer you're in academia usually. If you get a long term gf at 27 and live with her for 3 years then break up, you'd be in your 30's and still need to find a woman before even hoping to get married and have kids.

I was only saying that to respond to his comment about applicant shortages. It'll definitely depend on industry and how appealing his offer looks on paper. It's also possible he's not getting applications sent because his posting looks like shit/a joke. I wasn't complaining about my own search taking me a while; you're absolutely right in that you have to apply to new postings fast as fuck or you'll just be buried under a huge fucking pile. In my case I blame the fact that companies know I needed to relocate from 2500 miles away and not having stellar credentials. I also wasn't going batshit crazy applying every day. I probably averaged 5 applications a week. Overall I'm happy I found something in the height during the pandemic while having my non-local status also being a handicap. Another daunting thing for a lot of people right now/especially earlier during all of this was hiring freezes and getting ghosted out of thin air. I had interviews cancelled/postponed that I never heard another word from the recruiter on. Wouldn't doubt some recruiters dealing with my shit got canned mid process due to pandemic job cuts. The job I ended up landing ended up taking something like 6-7 months all in all from my first application to my first day due to various hiring freezes and shit.

Basically I was initially fully set on a PhD before realizing how much of a scam academia was, so I had done three semesters of research that had absolutely nothing to do with data analysis. Despite this, I made up ways in which I used programming in each of the three projects (one I did python pandas, one I did SQL, one I did R) so my resume was looking like I was a data pro because I made it seem like each project was four months of coding. The interviewers know less math than Me so I could easily lie about how data analysis was used in these projects. Keep in mind when I was throwing out apps I literally knew nothing about any of these 3 except they were wanted for jobs. Then, when I got interviews I absolutely grinded whatever language it seemed like they would ask Me about before interviews. I ended up getting two interviews. In the first one I got literally humiliated because the interviewers could absolutely tell I was bsing but I said whatever thick skin gonna pretend it never happened and my second interview they didn't ask me any actual whiteboard or technical questions so I could just retell my fake story about how my research projects were data analysis and they hired me. Ez. Trust me Ik how it feels to think you're a useless math major who knows nothing actually applicable and wish u were in Cs so u had actual skills but I can promise u in a bit you'll back and thank yourself for getting a math degree cus people love it espec for data analysis from what it seems to me.
