Some facts about ANVS
>Shares outstanding ~7M
>Float ~4M
>Held by insiders: 40%
>Institutional ownership has increased from 10% to 20% this year >The volume is very low, almost no one is selling

If the results (should be mid march) are positive this is going to cause so many circuit breakers to go off...

>> No.30099076

In my opinion you already missed the train on ANVS. It’s had a heck of a run already, and Renaissance already sold out accordingly. It’s very small float stock, so it could possibly be run up further easily enough by some news along with a pumper, but not worth the risk imo. Too many other good plays to take besides that one like CRBP.

So the upshots are a recovering economy, vaccines, lower infection numbers reported (thanks WHO rules change!) some better numbers on industrial spending, earning power, crop prices, inflation for debt-builds, stimulus discussion, and closing out a pretty good quarter from some of those who reported in Feb.
The downshots are new market highs, meme-stocks bringing in millions of first time traders, non-existent service industry, international USD burn parties, BA, Saud missiles, $3/gal, $60/bBL, Biden wealth tax discussion, inflation, rent failures, and chip shortages.

So we have shifted away from denying racial averages, and to the "muh based individual" argument? Very well. Tamed cats exist; will you trust your life to every mountain lion you pass by so as to ensure you can properly "evaluate it as an individual" before you commit the thought-crime of assessing that most mountain lions are dangerous? You consider the effort and risk associated with "testing the waters" to make sure you have a "good" mountain lion on your hand a reasonable thing to ask of people? I may be stupid but Im trying to understand here:

I can buy a Jan 22 $30 SOXL strike for about $1800 looks like it'd be. If it gets to say $60 anytime in May/June, so a 50% gain from today, this optionstrat says it'd likely be worth 100% more. So by buying a LEAP deep ITM, a 50% move in the underlying within the next couple months makes me 100%? So its 2x leveraged on my money in essence?

LEAPS and swaps (with regular rollovers) are the "building blocks" of the leveraged ETFs that are all the rage here: SOXL, TQQQ, TNA, SPXL, etc.
Deep ITM means much of the premium is intrinsic and far dated to minimize the effects of theta for long periods of time. It is basically a leveraged bet on "I bet XYZ will go up long term, but I am not sure when it will happen".

Curious. So now you are arguing that mannerisms are wholly divorced from genealogy?

Pretty unsubstantiated, but let's run with that for a moment. So if we devised some sort of artificial intelligence that could purely look at the societal impact the average member on any given race contributes, wholly independent from such base things as "appearances," you would accept such racial realities as "niggers are worthless creatures who only destroy whatever society they are a part of because they are angry, dumb, and prone to violence"?

Just run with me a second here. If this could be divined purely by statistics, would you accept it?

Incidentally, buy SOXL.

If buying ITM then the leverage is:
(Current Share Price/Premium) * delta
You can make whatever aribtrary leverage you want by buying different amounts of strikes, although its a pain in the ass. Delta changes with time because gamma and IV change with time. The deeper ITM the option the more "stable" it is with respect to IV and gamma changes.

Yea with less risk as the stock could drop to zero and you’d only lose what you paid. Deep in the money is debatable though. The good thing about it is less premium you pay and lower theta therefore but they cost more and have very little gamma exposure.

Where you really get paid in options is volatility and gamma. Say you buy a .20c option in a 50$ stock, that would work out to have something like a .5% probability or the stock making it there in the timeframe. Now say the stock exploded on news or whatever and goes there tomorrow. That option is gonna increase THOUSANDS of percent due to gamma and volatility. The other day when GME blew up again some of those options went up 20,000% in a day despite volatility already being relatively high from the prior squeeze. That’s 20,000$ on every dollar invested.

They are lottery tickets at that point though. I play them sometimes for what I feel will be good moves. Buy a 10c option and it goes to 30c on a fast move in your direction and that’s 300%. Stock could still be miles from your strike and never actually get there, you sell the option and move on.

Absolutely incorrect. The IV% increases from middle values to max as the option's "moneyness" increases, so it's not correct to say that itm calls would have less or more "stable" IV.

OTM calls are priced by algorithms based on projections of the share price into the future assuming some average of the IV.
Simple terms: OTM calls swing wildly based on sudden spikes in IV. The dream is to hold OTM calls on some boring ticker right before something happens that makes it extremely volatile (upward for calls, downward for puts). The pieces of shit at KODK made insane money from insider trading knowledge they used to buy OTM calls on the announcement of crony capital infusion from the Trump WH.
But OTM premiums also collapse when IV collapses as is usually the case until they are ITM. At which point it is best to sell them since the value is increasingly intrinsic anyway.

Couldn't you say that it is IV which is the deciding factor here for asymmetrical returns based off delta changes reacting to IV? High volatility increases the delta for OTM options while decreasing delta for ITM options; lower volatility has the opposite effect.

ITM options are more sensitive to premium changes from delta, basically. It evens out, regardless of in the money or out the money

my play is dependent on the premarket volume (which I expect to be very high, and I will only proceed if it is) and is essentially a guess that it will move in sympathy with RKT
I noticed all the other highly shorted memestocks exploded up when GME was mooning a month ago, and I firmly believe there's a good chance for round 2 of that right now. I see parallels here with where MAC was then, and MAC ran 100% over the span of a few days - SKT is essentially the same stock (highly shorted REIT) at a different time, texas news is bullish, market will be green tomorrow, if RKT does continue and gets halted money will flow into SKT and/or shorts will cover there, too

The fundamentals will not put $25c calls in the money by April, but if people start to look for the next RKT I believe SKT will catch a lot of interest, and I am willing to bet that the clusterfuck that 19 March is going to be will catch SKT in the crossfire and give me a chance to get out at break even if not massive gains.

So if your buying deep ITM, you might as well buy it to expire soon? At that point, why not just buy the underlying? Because you can get exposure to the underlyings intrinsic value, but only pay the premium, until you exercise said option?

If way OTM is valued by theta, then it only becomes profitable if the underlying moons immediately after I buy said option? Or does the math work out such that the underlying hitting strike at any point becomes highly profitable?

Sorry Im still trying to learn why do these things with options, the only stuff I have experience with is selling covered calls way OTM for some free income.

Why doesn't it sound right? ITM options are sensitive to premium changes from delta but less sensitive to changes in IV.

>And this also implies that deep OTM calls on things that are naturally volatile isn't necessarily profitable, becuase its priced in. SOXL is assumed to be volatile so I'm 'paying' for that in my initial premium?
Think of it like this. If you buy the 2.33 strike Jan 2022 call for SOXL then the intrinsic value of that call is $38.55 - $2.33 = $36.22
There is simply "no room" for theta in the premium because you'd just buy the shares for $2.33 more and not have to deal with theta or beta slippage at all. That is an extreme example because that is as deep ITM as you can get, but that is the idea. Deep OTM is entirely the reverse and if you look at the B-S equation you'll see its extremely sensitive to (a) strike and (b) changes in IV.
Deep ITM, long dated: leveraged bets on secular momentum
OTM, short dated: YOLO /wsb/ :rocket_emoji:
ATM: Ride momentum
Everything else is combining options to mitigate the risk factors or hoping to cash in on vola, momentum, etc.

I disagree, fundamentally. They're set to lose 0.75bil this Friday and in order to cover those costs they will shuffle their portfolios which bleeds the market. It is interesting though with that short but not now, buy RKT

Yes basically if you don't have enough theta. You really do need your stock to moon if you buy far OTM options.

In the money vs. out of the money: you are basically trading risk for reward. itm options have a higher probability of profit, but lower potential return on capital. otm options have lower probability of profit, but higher potential return on capital.

Suncor 2022 long 20c short 28c is going to be a 6x if it expires above $28

6x in a year and you wonder why the fuck people bother with spreads?

I've been thinking about buying SOXL for like 2 months. Seems like on the last few SMG threads people have been bullish on SOXL.

I see whats happening with GPUs and AMD processors and it just seems people should be supper bullish. Is there some risk here I'm missing?

if your missing it, im missing it.
There is a semiconductor shortage and with TSM and the like rushing to expand to pump out more.... I don't see why I shouldn't get in. The split provided a nice price point, a little dump made it juicy, so tomorrow AM, im in.
