It doesn’t happen in a flash. If you do nothing, or do the ‘normal’ thing, you’ll just be a lot poorer in 5 years than you are now. That’s why it’s called a depression because people’s lives stop improving for years on end.

You should always have a few weeks of food stocked, but if you don’t have good positions it won’t save you from being poor.
