The only feasible benefit of bars is price. Save for rare cases of mints/assayers having some special design or going out of business, bars are only good for lower premiums. Always, and I mean always, buy coins over bars/rounds if the price is comparable. Coins have potential numismatic value, are less likely to be faked, and are easily recognizable.

Yields went up significantly last week, along with the DXY this taking some wind off of Gold's sails. The chart however proves that the FED is implementing YCC already, which was to be expected for anybody following this market closely except for idiots who trade on charts alone.

My LCS is pretty damn casual and the guy working there is a bro. Just be honest and tell them what you're expecting and theyll either help you out or give you the bad news that they charge way more than they should.

I went into mine one day recently and they were offering 23x face for junk. 2 days later they wanted 27x. Just waltz in and check out some shit and say you can find 23x on the web. If they refuse to match or beat then just buy random assorted junk from monument for around 23x and hit up the LCS once in a while just to see if theyve changed their tune and to look around. My LCS told me to just come and visit and that I don't need to spend a penny to browse and ask questions.

I rarely bother bidding on auction-format scrap Silver because boomers almost always bid it above my target price range, but just won this deal. My experience suggests that it contains 260+ grams of sterling and coin (~$207 melt) so $96.06 total with shipping and tax ain't bad, better than most Buy it Now listings I usually look for and it comes with 13 mercs which is awesome because the LCShylock in town charges 29x face currently.

Just wanted to show aspiring scrappers what to look for, you're lucky to get 3 one ounce rounds for $96 right now whereas this lot holds over 7.5ozt asw for the same price. Silver is Silver and is easy to get refined so don't waste cash and cuck your stack by overpaying when you don't have to.

Even worse; on top of that he's an autistic goldbug who only opens the shop 3 or 4 times a month. Thank God I'm good at mining eBay because I'd be doomed if I could only source Silver locally.

Anyway, I wonder if the BTC shills are able to buy their digital vapor at 1/2 the market rate? Probably not because they're retards but it's definitely an option with PMs which invalidates much of their silly strawmanning.

Its actually funny that they would go on about fallout not having value for gold and silver. By the time of FO2, the New California Republic was issuing specie money and was introducing gold backed paper. It wasn't until their war with the Brotherhood of Steel, that said faction dirty-bombed their bullion depository, forcing them to switch to a water-backed dollar instead, which while weaker, is still commodity backed seeing as how rare clean water is in the wasteland. Also, by the time of FO New Vegas, Caesars Legion is popular among merchants for its safety and its use of silver and gold coinage only.

This is interesting because, it seems to me, that these return-to-Dark-Ages civilization-collapse scenarios serve only to divert people's attention. There is so much focus in the prepper community on maintaining, holding steady, defending the status quo of your situation. There is no talk of taking advantage of it via investment vehicles, like what Doug Casey details in Crisis Investing, and actually improving your situation. It's all scare tactics to make people do desperate things, like hoard 200 lbs of rice in their basement, instead of learning about why the economy is collapsing, what is coming next, and how can I better my situation in the interim. There are defensive measures you must take, and we all have taken them, but fallout shelters and thousands of dollars of canned food and the like just seem a little silly to me. Learning about the situation and trying to advance your financial well-being in response to it seem like the wiser choice, IMHO.

The earth was nearly wiped clean of life. A great cleansing, an atomic spark struck by human hands, quickly raged out of control. Spears of nuclear fire rained from the skies. Continents were swallowed in flames and fell beneath the boiling oceans. Humanity was almost extinguished, their spirits becoming part of the background radiation that blanketed the earth. A quiet darkness fell across the planet, lasting many years. Few survived the devastation.

And they still used gold.

Most of them don't really manage on their own; they simply post idealized Youtube videos to the internet giving a fake impression of their lives. Like a beggar who begs on the street all day, and then at the end of it gets into an expensive car and drives home. Everything in popular culture is intended to make us think that society can't survive without central banks printing fiat money. That's why we were told again and again that they were "too big to fail."

If saw someone's post before about why gold and silver are so attractive to people. The tldr is that precious metals have been used since prehistory to decorate the high status people like shamans and rulers. As history went on people in power continued to accumulate and display that wealth to show their power. You're the result of that cultural tradition that goes back far into prehistory. Caveman brain knows gold and silver = power. Thats why PM will never lose its value.

I would not be surprised if financial institutions actually created or co-opted the "prepper movement." There is much to benefit from their perspective when people focus on hoarding seeds, water, and gasoline alone in their compound, than reading history and economics, getting together as communities, discussing how exactly they've all been robbed blind and left by die by an oligarchy/tech giant/government collaboration, and then doing something to fix it and ensure it never happens again. It's somewhat analogous to the climate change / environmental movements: taper down, shut off manufacturing, use less, do without. It's all to impede human progress, to stop us from advancing civilization and empowering ourselves. People planting potatoes in their backyard because they're afraid the dollar will soon collapse, instead of taking offensive investment measures and climbing up a few rungs on the wealth ladder, is just proof positive that they've been misled by the prepper movement.

I made this comment to Don Durrett the other day on Twitter since nobody could figure why the fuck Gold was crashing so hard. My theory is that the banks allowed the Bond curves to spike upward only to deal enough technical damage to Gold prices that the algos and other TA-only traders get antsy about breaking support lines and all that other hippy bullshit.

You can see that as soon as this happened, YCC seems to have been implemented and the yields are now safely sitting around 1.4-1.45. However, Gold will now have to reclaim certain thresholds to resume its upward trend, giving central banks some relief for the time being. Expect this to get noticed soon enough and the uptrend to continue. Load up on miners now that they're in the gutter.

Again completely agree with you. It makes sense to be prepared for periods of destabilization or sudden crisis, but there's not a chance that the world is going to revert to a Dark Age. It's rather amusing because this debate goes back as far as the Enlightenment and was had between Voltaire and Rousseau. The prepper movement rather reminds me of Rousseau and his insatiable longing to return to a state of nature; which Voltaire mocked as "a desire to walk on all fours." Rousseau believed in simply isolating himself from the existing system and living as primitively as possible, but Voltaire spent his entire life in trying to change it by his influence. In the end, Voltaire accomplished everything that he could have hoped.

Because it is an actual material of actual worth.
Fiat dollar bills are just pieces of paper that governments and banks assign value to, and most of it is locked away in a vault somewhere so you can't even hold it in your hand, you can only count it using an ATM or a mobile app.
Crypto is pretty much the same thing only it has no physical form so it's even worse
Metals on the other hand have actual value stored in them, they are actually quite heavy, they look pretty, you can see yourself in them. And most importantly, it's yours and yours alone; not the government's, not the banks', not the internet's, it's yours.
