>>30074094This sounds cool actually
>>30073954Yeah, the only context I can see NFTs working is for things like in-game items and as a base layer to verify whether or not you have a license to play digital download games like on steam. But this "I own this .jpeg of a crypto kitty" shit makes no sense.
You are all stupid here. Instead of arguing about whether or not NFT is crap, you better focus on finding the next NFT CryptoPunks that will make you rich.

>>30074377honestly the real reason will probably be money laundering, just like how the real world art market works. Nobody actually gives a shit about any of the paintings that are allegedly worth millions. They just manipulate pieces of trash to claim they're worth gorillions so they can donate them and claim a massive tax write-off. Doing it with bullshit NFT .pngs sounds like it'd be the same thing but streamlined and no need to deal with pesky IRL objects.
>>30074277It's useful for access control in general, not just for games. The problem is that when the thing you're controlling access to is just a file, whether it's an image, audio, video, text, whatever, it's trivial to copy it and the NFT is just a particularly weak form of DRM.
>>30074523I don't do that. Here's some advice for anybody who does.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PP1pmL-fNPQ
>>30074422>BRAAAAAAAAP
>>30074561Yeah, that's what I'm getting at. I can see use-cases when the NFT is a representation of something in the real-world, but when it's purely just a data file, as with crypto "art", it just feels emperor-has-no-clothes to me. I feel like a better use case for NFTs would be for things like titles/deeds/birth certificates so you don't need to keep precious slips of paper to prove identity/ownership, and if you lose those slips of paper you're fucked.

Guys, NFTs are valuable, because it's scarce and it looks cool, same as any art. Think of MTG cards, the only difference here is that you actually use those cards for the game, but the art world is more complicated than that and there is value in aesthetics and pleasure that a piece of art gives to viewers. Of course you could print Black Lotus (a mtg card that costs thousands of dollars) at home, but no one will take it seriously, since it isn't legit, it has no value and anyone could do it. There will be a demand, because people like to own things. Just imagine that you own a Pepe image, you could make a projection in your penthouse and show it to your friends at cocktail parties. And it's yours, you could prove it with blockchain.
>>30068773Not touching that shit, they will all be worthless in a few months.
>>30074762>"art">"fart"
>>30075017>scarcethey're not scarce, they're just image files that can be copied infinitely. Whether or not I officially "own" an image file means nothing>think of MTG cardsthe difference is I can't just print out pictures of MTG cards and use those instead of legitimate ones.

>>30075017>Think of MTG cards, the only difference here is that you actually use those cards for the game>you actually use those cards for the gameExactly, there's a use. It's also a physical object with history behind it. Maybe if they come out with stuff that lets you display only NFTs you own, like the projection in the penthouse thing, or do something else with them, it would be worthwhile. But at the same time, you would have to make sure people couldn't just create their own new NFT with the exact image to get around that.
>>30075017No one will care about the authenticity of a digital file such as some rare Pepe or whatever bs you might buy. In the case of playing cards, I could see the physical cards being connected to blockchain where a simple QR scanner could verify that it's a legit card.
>>30073954>I could see NFTs working as rare multiplayer game items or some legal contracts/agreements.yes the current art NFTs are a meme and money laundering but NFT technology will be big in the coming decades for digital ownership

Anon I initially thought NFT was retarded. Actually most of NFT is still retarded, but cryptopunks will have lasting power. You know something is valuable when people start copying you. How do you go about deciding if a punk is valuable or not? I've read about the difference types, attributes and number of attributes. Are there any punks on sale right now that represent good value for money?
I made an NFT and i hope that someone will throw any money at it. I did it mostly to be apart of this art thing that will have an impact on the industry.https://app.rarible.com/token/0x60f80121c31a0d46b5279700f9df786054aa5ee5:235456:0x94665ce57df34fd4465ca517b8e502773e05657a

People are trying to equate owning an NFT with owning an original Mona Lisa and shit. No amount of mental gymnastics makes this claim not retarded. Physical objects are not the same as digital "items".If you pay $100k for a "punk" be prepared to hold your illiquid asset forever when the music stops and people are like "hey wait a minute, this is actually retarded".
