Gold is much less about speculation. You have teenagers with $2000 worth of silver in /pmg/ thinking they'll be rich in a year, sure, but that silver will exist forever. It doesn't need people mining transactions, or the power to stay on, or code breaks, and it's never going to be replaced by eth or anything. It's just gold and it will exist exactly how it currently does, forever.

Conversely, the only reason to buy bitcoin is because you think it will go up and you can sell it at a fiat profit later. That doesn't mean it isn't real money, and I'm not fudding it, but you need some guy in china to continue the chain if you want it to be worth anything, as well as not forgetting/losing your keys or dying. Gold doesn't need any of that.
