Brave:
>Built-in Ad-blocker written in C++ and Rust, partially based on uBO, and frequently updated
>Regarded as a top tier privacy and security-centric browser by credentialed academic researchers
>IPFS Support OOTB
>Optional integrated private Tor tabs
>Optional integrated lightweight torrent client for inspecting a torrent's content before you pass it off to your actual client (qBT, of course)
>Best in class protection against fingerprinting via complex entropic contextually driven anonymized randomization algorithms
>Completely FOSS
>No telemetry (unless you opt in to Brave Rewards)
>Extremely fast page loads
>All the extension and DRM'd media playback support of Chromium
>Regularly incorporates patches from UG Chromium
>Sync works independently of Jewgle and utilizes blockchain technology
>Optional, completely opt-in rewards program for people living in serious poverty who want to get thrown a couple of bucks for watching ads provided via an anonymized recommendation system, which is far better than the advertising model we are forced to deal with on the rest of the web
>The rewards come in the form of BAT, essentially a stable-coin which can be traded on every crypto exchange under the sun

TLDR: If you need a Chromium/Blink-based browser, Brave is far and away the best option. Hands down. No questions asked. If you need a Gecko-based browser, use IceCat. These are the two best browsers in existence right now.

Wrong, ungoogled chromium. You can't dispute this. Brave is total trash but since we're in clown market it might moon. Maybe buy the token but don't use this shit on your own system.

But Google can fuck them, and even in worse ways than that. Google develops almost all of the Chromium code that projects like Brave, Edge, Vivaldi, Opera, ungoogled-chromium and more are based on (like all those apps made in Electron), which gives them the power to change Chromium in a way that would screw everyone at once. Google using its dominant positions in the different markets to make Mozilla their bitch is like grabbing them by the balls, but Google controlling the base project used by almost everyone else is like grabbing them by the hearth. These projects could make a hard fork if shit happened, but history has proven that maintaining an entire browser and engine by yourself is complex as fuck (even Microsoft failed twice and opted for using Jewgle's Blink instead), and would put them at a huge disadvantage, even bigger than Mozilla's since they at least have experience building stuff from the ground.

Good points all around but Eich himself basically represents pre-pozzed Mozilla; he was talented enough to work his way up to briefly being their CEO until they got rid of him for virtue signaling purposes and hired some woman that writes stuff like this (https://blog.mozilla.org/blog/2021/01/08/we-need-more-than-deplatforming/).).

If anyone could implement a hard fork it would be him and his staff. Mozilla just exists to cash checks for Google and they are in no position to challenge them openly or covertly.

I know about Eich and nu-Mozilla. My point is that not everyone is capable of maintaining (let alone keeping it up to date with new "standards" and features) something as complex as a browser, and that being left by themselves would hurt all these small organizations in a really bad way.

>>30023603
Google is responsible of almost all of the commits made in Chromium, and therefore have the power to shape it to their liking without having anyone to oppose them. Brave (or any other company or organization) making a hard fork of the project would put them at a disadvantage because they would lack the money and resources needed to maintain an increasingly divergent code, specially when Google could start pushing new "standards" that only their particular flavor of Chromium support by default.
