Asteroids can't be mined yet. Assuming we continue getting better at space travel it will eventually be possible. Once it is possible it won't be profitable at first. The cost to mine (fuel, spaceships, etc.) is more than the value of metals recovered. Once we are here silver is fucked. These costs will go down over time following an exponential decay like economic theory suggests. The precious metals market (currently limited to earth) will be fucked.

But the world is going to shit, and we may never make it that far. And if shit hits the fan your silver coins will be worth more than your shitcoin crypto.

Its like everyone here and at WSS dont realize that the underpinning to the price of commodities is oil. If oil rises to $100/barrel, thats when youll see gold and silver rise. Currently oil is $61 a barrel, which is why gold and silver are still so cheap compared to the rampant inflation seen on Wallstreet.

Which also shows you the disconnect between wallstreet and the real world: Real world needs oil, or some form of energy to make the world run. Financial markets do not. Hence, commodities are locked in with oil while things like stocks and crypto are not (also why PMs have severely underperformed against other assets in the last 4 decades).

A bet on gold or silver is a bet that inflation will hit oil. It is a bet on the demise of the petrodollar, essentially, America losing access to cheap oil.
