That and the fact that schools will not even touch finance in school, even if it has become incredibly easy for people to become apart of in this day of age.
I don't mean just learning about how to do taxes or write a cheque, but i mean giving info on different kinds of investments, risks/benifits of trading vs holding or trusting a financial advisor.

Had a similar situation where (for my job) I had to talk to a Native American Indian guy about investing a decent sum of money he was receiving, and he was absolutely terrified of the idea. Kept comparing the stock market to a casino. In the end we had to put the money in a savings account because he was so afraid of the idea of losing any money in the market. The idea of a "stock" really is was literally beyond his comprehension and he did not have any interest in learning anything about it.
