Is selling many call contracts over a range of strike prices a decent beginner strategy? I'm gonna have a lot of SOXL stacks and I don't want to lose them all but I also don't want to just set the strike price to be way out of the money each time...

Newfag here, made some money with crypto the last four months, but I want to try the stock market out and decide what I really want to invest in long term. What brokerage should I use? Heavily leaning towards Charles Schwab right now, seems like one you can't really go wrong with. Any specific draw backs or benefits to a Schwab account?

Even if it is a bit dated, the fact it stands the test of time feels like a pretty good sign. I'd like to do more advanced types of trading in the future, and maybe I'll find something more specialized at that point, but for now I just want to buy a few safe stocks and get a feel for the market. Riskiest thing I'm planning on is putting some money into Roblox on day one, I played that game as a kid from 2008-2012 and have checked back in periodically since. They have done insanely well as a company, and I personally believe these stocks will be an amazing buy. One of my boomer coworkers has made a lot of money in 30 years of trading exclusively on Charles Schwab and he doesn't have a single bad thing to say about them.

Anyone have thoughts on whether utility companies might be undervalued (NEE, SO, DUK, etc)? The sector as a whole is currently down 10%ish over the past two weeks due to the winter storms. I usually keep a small portion of my portfolio in utilities as a "safe" investment due to consistent dividends and what is effectively a subscription model and near-guaranteed income. This would be a value play, not a growth play.

Their earnings were negative every year of the past 10 years except the last year because of gold prices. Yet throughout all that they've recently gotten their debt less than their EBITDA, which is shocking. The expectation is that there should have a much higher dividend coming up in Q3 Q4 because they can just generate cash now.

I think with the 1.9T in money printing that just passed this weekend, despite the rising 10yr recently we will still see gold prices going higher this year and in 2022.

So this is something I recommend people read to learn more about inflation. I'm a flithy fucking leaf, and we have seen huge inflation due to how the government handed everyone 2K a month for MONTHS and is still handing out cash. So we are seeing inflation in consumer goods. I think you're seeing major inflation in stock in the US for a variety of different reasons.

Inflation will impact the stock market different based on sectors. Energy will do great, materials will do OK, speculative tech stocks that are years away from profitability will be crushed. Anyone in cash will be crushed.

But why are you expecting the industry to double like that? Unless you reason reopening isn't already priced in.

On that note, there's a good chance oil will be green on the J&J news (unless that was what already happened early last week)

Paul Stamets, the god father of modern medicinal mushrooms (super smart, passionate guy) recommends a psilocybin microdosing of regimen of 4 days on 3 days off because tolerance in humans goes up twofold every day of use. Supposed to take 1 mg per kg of body weight so I'd be 100 mg day one, 200 day 2 and 400 day 3 and so on but after experimenting for a year or so I just take 100-300 mg per day (or more if I wanna get a little high) depending on how I feel. I take small doses of lion's mane for the purported neuroregenerative effects. I don't feel any smarter but a few years ago I started to to lose feeling in the tip of my big toe and since this regimen I have feeling back.

I added vasodilators because Paul Stamets recommended I think niacin to stack with psilocybin and lion's mane as a vasodilator. I chose the carnitine etc. bc that's what I was already taking as a cheap workout supplement. Probably not necessary and who knows what works and what's placebo but I like my magic beans.

Supply crunch mainly, I feel that it's in OPEC's interest to continue with cuts or a small production increase for the rest of the year. The vaccine approval too will boost confidence that normal international travel will start coming back soon. Each week we've had huge draw down in oil inventory, and the storm in Texas took alot of production offline. We will see extremely high oil prices soon enough, as long as OPEC can keep production down.

because it's not where it was last year, and consumption is going to be at that point very soon, especially with large scale infrastructure and travel kicking back up.
either the price of oil rises to fair value and production increases in lock step due to the incentive of rising oil prices, or the price stagnates, production stagnates, and there's eventually a massive supply shock which rises the prices anyway - this would be my reluctance to buy a 3X ETF, due to decay.
I'd love to hear arguments against, but I'm really fucking bullish for oil.

yea if you are young you should be overweight small cap. In other words, you should put more money in small cap stocks due to their expected future performance that may outstrip the broader market. Amazaon, Apple, Microsoft were all small cap stocks

Also if you are young, it may be prudent to use leverage to invest. Due to your demographics and ability to recover if shit goes sideways, it can work in your favor since younger people tend to be more care free when it comes to taking risk
