What does it take to become a software engineer post graduation? I'm worried about my competency and whether I'll get hired or not even though I'm really really well and understanding almost everything in my comp sci class.

It's easy to overlook the drawbacks until you have to deal with them every day. I'm a programmer, and I hate my life. My coworkers are not fun to be around. My body is falling apart. I've spent most of my life making the world worse. I enable rent seeking, predatory advertising, and automate peoples jobs away. I'd like to go work for a company that actually does something good, but when it comes down to it, being evil pays better, and that's where the cool tech is. It's easy to justify it in the moment, but it weighs on my conscience more and more as the years go by. That said, I was homeless in my early 20s, and a 6 figure salary has vastly improved my life.
