With taproot increasing privacy in Bitcoin, will it kill the use of monero?

Why would anyone use Monero if privacy can be achieved (even if inferior) directly on-chain?

>> No.29755109

No taproot barely increases privacy on bitcoin

BTC is the AOL of crypto.

From what i've read, developers can use the full potential of Taproot to essentially create a "monero" on chain.

>> No.29755838

Andreas antonopoulus and the team working on taproot both have said that Bitcoin will never become as private as Monero due to how the chain works and because it is resistant to hard forks.

Even if Bitcoin hard forks with the best possible privacy features the fact that it had no privacy in the past allows analysis of the new private transactions so it's essentially useless.

The only way it would work is if BTC basically starts an entire new blockchain called BTC2 and people exchange their original BTC for it.

But we all know that is NEVER going to happen.

lmfao where you reading that?
taproot is a soft fork, so it is optional privacy.
it doesn't hide transaction amounts and wallet addresses are still publicly viewable on the blockchain.
The only positive of having taproot will be the atomic swap implementation forthcoming by farcaster you deluded Maxi.

Taproot implements schnorr signatures in BTC. It's a precedent for atomic swaps.

I was partly aware of farcaster but wasn't sure why it was bigger news yet, this explanation makes sense, thanks. to clarify this a bit more for retards like me who are reading, farcaster lets you do BTC/XMR atomic swaps trustlessly. very good for both chains. do you have any links that i can read to learn a bit more about this?

I just found this: https://taiga.getmonero.org/project/xmrhaelan-monero-public-relations/us/293
looks like a great summary.
if you want a video, check out this presentation from last year. It gets technical but this is the guy who developed the atomic swap implemenation, talking about his research about a half year before the announcement that his findings worked: https://youtu.be/G-v6hDnzpds

Monero, lol. Not many uses for now. Just hype. BNB for example has uses and is widely already adopted.
With BTC I'm weary on the price for now (everyone expects the drop, but in 2017 not many institutions brought in).
BNB is going to smash it and will only rise up against the bitcoin.
Bit coin drops 10% BNB will drop 9%. Bitcoin rises 10% BNB will rise 11%. Include the minimum 10 million coins to be burned this year (3 million burned on last quarter and volume is rising). There are about 9 BNB's to the bitcoin out there. A tenth of $50000 is $5000 ( this is the ratio, which should be lower so 7k BNB).
BNB's value would rise to this if BTC stayed between 40 and 60k (the more it goes up and down the better the gap will close). BNB will soon have the same volume if not more than BTC (currently about 70% volume).
There is a small crash in the market and it could go one way or another, but in the end will go up.

are you retarded?
Monero is probably the only crypto with actual usecase.

BNB only has 2x Ethereums capacity and was already clogged 2 days before the first dump. Whales found out its not going to solve Eth. BNB that said - is overbought.

There is literally no hype around monero, only people talking about what it does in a reasonable way. An unknown amount of monero, how is that hype, thats a meme about what it does.
