Using cracked copies of flash and photoshop were a common content cornerstone. More posts on 4chan had images, and modifying images in the thread was a common way to give power to your post by showing effort.

Flash content and YTMND stuff was generally higher quality ideas and the presence of audio leading to memetic songs has basically become a lost art.
